Super stay, great helpful staff and Kia the maintenance man was brilliant 🤩

Spent 3 nights here whilst attending a family Funeral. Room Tidy bed very comfortable. 1 minor criticism TV Volume very low - especially if you are Hard of hearing. Chair not exactly the most comfortable. The ability to open the window is a definite plus in our book as we like the freash air.

The Premier Inn was clean and well laid out. The restaurant was very good with a great selection of fresh food. Most of the staff were very curious and helpful with cheery greetings. Now my “Beware “ title. When you book in make sure you record the fact that, if you’re using the car park, you record that you have registered your car, even filming it. We booked in, entered our vehicle registration and told by reception that all was okay. Next morning, parking ticket. Reception basically said it was their problem and for us to sort it ourselves but did advise us to contact the company who Premier use to appeal the ticket. It took a week to get the ticket cancelled. This situation could be made hassle free if reception staff could either double check that the procedure was correctly completed or a receipt given.

Premier Inn Newport is well placed and well staffed, particularly nice if you get a waterside view. But the big let-down was the Beefeater next door - under-staffed, poorly laid out and chaotic while we were there. The staff seemed more interested in packing in as many non-hotel diners as possible, pushing Premier Inn bookings to the edges and poorer areas. Breakfast was particularly chaotic, not improved by the creation of a complete blockage of people with diners at a table backed up against the main hot food service station - leaving others to fight their way through to continental options. Completely poor layout, not helped by the fact that it seemed the staff were racing, and failing, to keep up with demand Evening menu choice is very limited, unless you're into fat chips, chips and more chips, plus burgers. So bad it would stop us using Premier Inn again in this location.

Overall hotel location, cleanliness and staff good however there seems to be a major issue with the temperature of the room. It is advertised as no air con and we did go on the hottest weekend of the year, we were warned on arrival of the rooms being hot and a fan was supplied but nothing could prepare us of the unbearable heat of the room! We bought an additional fan and an extension lead so fans could be positioned by the beds and still it was unbearable and we couldn’t sleep, even when the temperature was cool outside it didn’t affect the room temperature. We only stayed 2 nights, if our break had of been for longer we would have come home early due to the temperature of the room, looking at past reviews this seems to be an issue all year around not just when hot. I am going to email head office as I feel that anyone with breathing conditions affected by heat would be affected by the room temperature
