紐約本傑明皇家飯店(The Benjamin Royal Sonesta New York)

The check in process was delayed, took about 15 min to find a room. The room was not appropriately cleaned with two pieces of candy on the floor at different spots and plastic wrapping on the floor. My dogs got into the candy which is not good. The bathroom has mildew and mold in the shower. The usb charging plugs are so worn out that they did not charge, had to use the TV and keep it on all night. The door staff was excellent.

This hotel is both tired and sad. In their defense, I gather they plan to refurbish the hotel next year. It needs it. The first suite they proposed smelled moldy and musty. Awful. Plus the furniture was in disrepair. The second room did not have a bad smell. However, it was drab. Dreary comes to mind. The bath was dated.

Jonathan the doorman was an awesome guy. The front desk staff were pretty helpful as well, although maybe a few new people with less experience, but not bad. Hotel rooms were nice, clean and quiet. I might stay there again. However, the hotel charges an extra standard "resort fee" above what you pay on ******* for internet service, fitness facilities and phone, even if you don't use anything.

The only positive encounters I had with the staff was the person checking me in, the doormen, and a housekeeper. I got there early and had to drop my luggage. The front desk woman was condescending. I stood back to wait for my luggage to be taken and was looked over even though standing right where I was directed. A gentleman at the front desk began to look anxious bc he noticed so I knew I wasn’t imagining it. The woman checking me out was disgustingly rude. Unfathomable behavior. The property itself wasn’t luxury in my opinion but maybe if I’d splurged, I’d had that experience. But it wasn’t bad. The rooms were clean and housekeeping was out bright and early. They were also quick to accommodate any requests. The location was great. A few minutes from grand central and within walking distance to pretty much everything. I wouldn’t say DON’T stay here, I’d just be mindful about the staff. I didn’t complain while I was there bc idk, I’ve worked customer service. There’s no point. They laugh and move on behind the scenes. So if you stay, just ignore the snotty attitudes and you’ll be fine.

Great location, king size suite was huge and perfect for a couple with a child. Chose this hotel and booking primarily due to it having a small kitchenette, however the it could do with a kettle for hot drinks instead of trying to use the coffee machine to dispense hot water! The living room was great, and comes with a double sofabed that was comfortable enough for our child. There is plenty of wardrobe/drawer clothes storage, but the bathroom was very tight and could do with bigger a bit bigger! The decor looks a little dated, but that wasn't a problem. However, the only main issue with the room was the lack of sheer blinds so either you had to pull down the blackout blinds (which acted as curtains) in order to get changed, or to go into the bathroom to dress as the office workers will have a clear view of you! The other downside of our stay was that the hotel was in the process of having the restaurant refurbished, so there was no where to order a snack/drink or have breakfast. Hopefully after they have completed their works that this hotel will reach a 5* feedback. Ps. must point out that the lobby staff were impeccable, and were definately the most helpful & friendly American staffing we found in our entire visit to America.

Overall the room was spacious, clean and comfy bed. No amenities to the hotel, outdated with furniture and decor lacking - doesn’t meet 4-5* standards. Very outdated colours, dark reception, poor quality fabrics/decor and furniture. Poor view facing a brick wall. Gentlemen on reception were polite but one woman was very rude behind guests back. Doormen very helpful. Fair location, good transport links. High amenity fees & hotel taxes for a hotel with no facilities and a minimal snack bar. Probably wouldn’t stay but it was an experience for travelling.

Front desk staff was not welcoming or helpful. Then they try to charge extra for early check-in - and the ‘resort fee’ is charged for a bunch of useless things… but mostly it was the unfriendly front desk staff. Someone should tell them they’re in the hospitality business.

I loved the location. Very walkable and central to everything. Room was extremely clean and huge with the cutest kitchenette. Our king suite had a large private terrace. The staff was very pleasan and welcoming. I will definitely definitely return to the Benjamin. We even ran into a couple tennis stars for the US open.
