"We wanted to explore the underrated Dão wine region and came across this unique property. It is a historic manor house hotel with great energy. We were welcomed by two gracious hostesses, Joana and Ana, who both have a personal connection to the place. Our room was comfortable, and we really enjoyed walking the grounds and appreciating the antiques. Solar de Vilar Seco makes for a truly unique stay and is so worth the detour. A special thank you goes to the lovely Raquel, who made an outstanding breakfast spread for us. The food she prepared was plentiful, fresh, and incredibly tasty. To the owners of the property, we really appreciated the authentic experience and are so grateful to the three ladies who manage it with such quality, care, and pride. One last highlight that made our evening divine was an exceptional dinner at Chef Gilbert’s restaurant right across the street (see my separate review for that establishment). The combination of a night stay at this property and an outstanding chef dinner, made for a truly once in a lifetime experience."
