After having a bad experience at Monteray Bay Resort, and checking out immediately, we were stuck with no options on July 4th week. Everything was booked.
After managing one night splitting our family between many hotels with friends, we found this little hidden gem. While it is basic and dated, we found it really nice throughout the week. The proximity to the boardwalk and pier were a bonus. The beach is clean and not crowded.
I always bring wipes to clean up the rooms we stay in. When I did, I found that the housekeeping staff did a good job before we came. Again, dated… basic… but our experience was a clean room. Each day, the housekeeping staff knocked and asked if we needed clean towels etc. The appliances were in clean, working order. The housekeeping ladies were nice. In talking with them, I think there needs to be a printout of what is expected for guests upon checking out. It sounds like the guests just leave the rooms in used order… a sign above the sink that says: do the dishes, empty the refrigerator and some basic courtesy to the housekeeping staff. The hotel should have a fee assessed if people don’t clean up in that way. There is a large trash can on the floor and we emptied our trash throughout the week.
My only negative is how can the hotel help with all of the ********* smoking on the balcony? The view is spectacular but on more than one occasion, I had to call my kids in and close the door because the smell was coming in.
