We stayed at Kibo Palace in Moshi for 3 nights after our Kili climb as we wanted something more luxurious & comfortable. Pros: We were on the 7th floor, which was an ideal spot to be. The balconies are narrow, but sufficient & provide interesting views of Moshi town. Even though you are in the heart of Moshi, the rooms are quiet and comfortable. There is a small hot water pot with teas/coffee as well as staff delivering little cookies every afternoon which is a cute touch. The rooms/bathroom/rooftop bar/kitchen are all quite modern. Amenities are really top-notch, especially after camping for 10 days. This was our splurge! There were quite a few breakfast options, including made-to-order eggs which was a treat. Even though I am gluten-free/dairy-free and my travel partner was vegan, we were able to find enough breakfast options that were filling & delicious. We ordered dinner one night in the restaurant & I had ugali with whole tilapia. It was tasty. For my vegan friend, options were a little bit more limited to salads & Indian-type curries. The location is pretty walkable. In fact, there is a market just down the street & the bus stop is also not far. We had a safari operator pick us up here easily. Moshi is on the sleepier side, so not too much going on (especially Sunday). But relatively easy to coordinate activities from this location. The staff was friendly & professional, also helped us coordinate a motorbike ride and gave us directions to a restaurant. So we appreciated their help & kindness. It seemed like the place was rather quiet. Apologies that I cannot remember names, we also had a really nice waiter in the dining room/rooftop bar who was trying (and kind of failing) to teach us numbers in Swahili. The rooftop bar is a huge bonus, just wish there was a little more outdoor seating options as it is limited. It was easy to use a credit card at this hotel, which is a plus as that isn't always easy to do in Tanzania...but make sure you have some schillings or USD for tipping staff. They deserve it. I also did not expect daily room service, so that was a plus. Cons (few minor things): The cocktails were tasty, but on the weak side esp. for the price. Rooms are a little cramped if you have all of your luggage from hiking, etc. you have to be creative with space. Overall: Solid option in Moshi, def. on the luxurious side and will feel especially fancy after trekking/camping.
