We chose the Hotel Gault as a special way to cap off a two-week road trip. After booking a corner suite, we reached out to the hotel to check whether we could be assigned to a room with a bathtub, and received a prompt reply that a tub was included in the room category. With that in mind, we were excited to have this relaxing, nice feature at the end of our trip, but when we arrived (they did accommodate an early check-in request, which was kind of them) we were given a room with a shower only. We went back to the desk right away and mentioned the bathtub discrepancy and were told that it was not guaranteed in the room category. I told the staff I'd be happy to store our luggage and come back later if a room with a tub would be available later, and we were told there was nothing they could do, in spite of the message that they had sent to us previously. Frustrated, we left for the afternoon, but later returned to see if anything could be done as it was not sitting well; there was a different person at the desk at that point who told us that we should have complained at check-in and that it could have been rectified easily earlier in the day, but it was now too late as housekeeping had left for the afternoon - we pointed out that we had in fact complained. They apologized and offered us complimentary drinks which we didn't use, and ended up comping the valet parking charge, but the situation soured our day, and we ended up feeling disappointed, overcharged, and misled.
