Der Komplex besteht aus zum Teil sehr schönen, alten Gebäuden. Unser Zimmer war sehr geräumig mit einer sehr hohen Decke. Das Mobiliar ist dem Raum angepasst. Das Badezimmer war eher etwas karg, aber absolut zweckmäßig. Eine gewisse Ringhörigkeit muss man bei solchen beeindruckenden Bauten Kauf nehmen - z.B. laute Gespräche im Nebenzimmer oder Rollkoffer auf dem Korridor, aber es war nachts sehr ruhig. Il s’agit d’un bel Hotel, Rustique situé sur un site enchanteur. Petit déjeuner inclus, avec une belle variété. Les chambres sont immenses, lit king, grande salle de bain, avec bain à remous. Belle court et piscine sur place, tres bon service.

olde world hotel - step back into time with romantic dinner , art deco furniture , excellent service, friendly attentive welcoming staff, breakfast and dinner were excellent , fresh croissants and lovely cut up fruit were my favorite at breakfast - dinner had their weeks special oxtail and mash with vegetables - fall off the bone and delicious. wifi was very good and available everywhere . can be noisy until locals have gone to bed as it’s on main road but after 8 pm went quiet. pleasantly surprised at the delicious food at the hotel

Absolutely stunning, great service and if something was wrong, they went out of their way to fix the problem, however small it was. I cannot fault them on anything. What a pleasant stay.

We were family of five , had a relaxing two day stay , breakfast is really everything you need and more ,all staff very friendly ,would def recommend staying there you won’t be disappointed.

We spent four nights at the Montagu Country Hotel, our second stay here. Once again we were in Room 2 on the upper floor of the main auction building, one of the bigger art deco rooms and no two rooms are identical. Lovely room with period art deco furniture although we found the bed just a bit small. The bathroom is spacious with an excellent Large whirlpool bath and small walk in shower and double sinks. By today's standards the shower is a bit dated though. The whole hotel is beautifully furnished with art deco antiques and there is a separate coffee shop as well as the main restaurant Charlestons where we ate one night(separate report). Breakfast is good and the main pool area is spotless with comfortable recliners and plenty of shade. There is also a smaller pool nearer to the outbuildings. Staff were all very friendly. One point to note is that the first floor rooms in the main building can only be accessed by the main staircase so if you have plenty of luggage help from a porter is welcome. We would certainly stay yet again.

My wife and I enjoyed a pleasant one night stay at the Montagu Country Hotel. The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. The room was clean and spacious with a large shower. We really enjoyed the beautiful garden and swimming pool. We were however disappointed with our dinner. We borh ordered the brisket filled ravioli as starters. My wife ordered the stuffed calamari and I ordered the pork medallions in mustard sauce. We were served one large ravioli.The pasta was tough as it was overcooked. The brisket was tasteless and sinewy and lacked flavour. It was not enjoyable. The calamari was tough and inedible. My wife returned and the dish and was offered a trout setved with lemon risotto. The trout was tasty and beautifully cooked. The risotto,however was undercooked and grainy. I did however, enjoye my pork tenderloin and the mustard dish.which was tender and tasty.

Service in this "hotel" is an absolut misery! 😠 I was lying sick in my room, not being able to come to the restaurant to my fellow group of African Bikers and the restaurant staff was refusing to let even a sandwich coming to my room to keep me from starving! This is by far the worst service i ever got in South Africa. Thank you very much for that not existing effort! 😡 To potential guests: Don't stay at this hotel!

I was disappointed in the first place because I was lying sick in my room, not being able to come to the restaurant to my fellow group of African Bikers. It seemed to be a problem to get a sandwich to my room to keep me from starving! But I was able to sort it out with the management so I hadn't go to sleep hungry. I appreciate that! Nice hotel and friendly staff.

Initially attracted to Montagu by the hot springs and its location on the R62, this was our final stop before returning to Cape Town after our circular road trip around the Garden Route and the Karoo. So glad we chose the Montagu Hotel, it was excellent in every respect and unbelievable value for money. Wished we’d had a longer stay to explore and would definitely recommend to fellow travellers.

A nice stop-over and an interesting jump in the past on the way to the Garden route. The room was very big, and clean although the bathroom might need a litte renovation. The garden is beautiful and well maintained. All the staff were very friendly.

We stayed at the Montagu Hotel on the night of the 22nd August. We had actually been booked into Galenia Estate and had checked in there in the afternoon. we had enjoyed a cup of tea in room, gone for a walk and then left for an early dinner in Montagu. We were given a remote control along with our room key for when we returned. We had a lovely dinner in Montagu and returned to Galenia Estate at about 9 30 pm. Unfortunately the remote control was faulty and we could not get in. This would not have been a problem if Galenia Estate had answered our phone calls. We then realised we were in trouble and did not think it would be safe to sleep in our car at their gates and it was also very cold. We drove back to Montagu and were very lucky to be able to get a room at the Montagu Country Hotel. They had a tour staying there and were very full but accommodated us and could have not been more helpful. They also tried calling Galenia Estate with no success. So we slept in our clothes. Fortunately neither of us required any medication as that would have been at Galenia Estate with the rest of our luggage.Nobody from Galenia Estate tried to contact us in the morning when we did not turn up for the nature walk and can't believe that they hadn't noticed we were not on the premises, they did have a contact number for us. I can't thank Montagu Country Hotel enough for looking after us. Galenia Estate did refund us fully for both hotels but it was not quite the celebration we had planned for a special birthday.

We hosted a weekend destination wedding at the Hotel. As per usual, the food, staff, facilities and hospitality was nothing short of excellent. In addition to that, the hotel assisted us in arranging our wedding in many aspects and accommodated us wherever and however we requested. Adri and her team were supportive and helpful from as early as six months prior to the wedding. It is simple - from a weekend getaway to a destination wedding/birthday/celebration - there is no better option in SA than the Montagu Country Hotel.

This is a review of one of the restaurants at this hotel. It is not intended to be critical of the hotel beyond the restaurant itself. A friend and I went specifically to this hotel for a Sunday lunch on the strength of my friend's recommendation based on her recent previous experiences at the same hotel. The menu, apparently a new one, is now very limited and not very interesting, and the restaurant was empty but for one other table. We should have left at this point on the strength of those observations alone. But we persisted. We ordered a vegetarian wrap and the house burger. The wrap seemed ok, if banal, but the burger was an absolute disaster. I couldn't make a complaint for fear of embarrassing my friend. The beef (?) patty had the taste and texture of a dried out piece of leather. The bacon slice on top was undercooked, and the cheese on top of that was congealed and rubbery. The chips were average. Service was good but, really, what's the point? The whole thing tasted like plastic, entirely without flavour. There are so many places in this area of exceptional international quality. This meal was a disgrace.
