Amazing! What an amazing find! Food was out of this world. Pool was great and we just loved the sustainability of the place. Growing all the fruit and veg amazing!

Nos alojamos una noche en Kalus Hideaway y la experiencia fue muy agradable. El hotel es precioso, con una construcción en madera muy auténtica que encaja perfectamente con su entorno, justo al lado del Parque Nacional de Udawalawe. La piscina es espectacular, y pudimos disfrutar de un baño por la noche después de nuestra visita al parque, ¡una experiencia genial! Nuestra habitación para tres personas era muy cómoda y estaba impecablemente limpia. El personal merece una mención especial: todos fueron muy serviciales, sonrientes y atentos a nuestras necesidades. Sin duda, un gran acierto para disfrutar de la zona y descansar tras un día de safari.

A secluded small eco hotel, reached by a long track.Huge wooden gates at entrance to hotel grounds. Greeted by friendly staff and check in was quick. Our room was up two flights of stairs, no lift. The room was, as usual in Sri Lanka, large and clean. Food was excellent, an la carte menu if there are not many guests and buffet when there were more of us.They grow a lot of their own fruit and veg. Dishes were tasty and there was a cooking station, the egg hoppers were very good. The head chef was always around, greeting diners and explaining the dishes. The desserts and fruit were in a separate cold glass room. We found the prices reasonable. Eating out was not a choice for us, as there was nothing nearby anyway. The hotel is owned by a Sri Lankan cricket legend, he was at the hotel when we stayed and our driver was very excited to get a photo with him. The Udawalawe nat.park was a 20min drive and the Orphan elephant show the same.

My husband and I stayed here for one night on our recent tour of Sri Lanka. A very nice hotel with an interesting cricket theme. Room was immaculate, a good size and had a pleasant balcony. However i have to echo what some other reviewers have said that although we were greeted with a refreshing cold flannel, no one came from reception to explain anything about the hotel or room to us and we certainly weren't offered a welcome massage although we did see a couple receiving one. This was odd as staff were very friendly. Food and menu were rather limited but breakfast was very good. One night was sufficient for us and on the whole it was good overall.

For just a quick no frills overnight with very minimal comforts this hotel is fine but it is definitely not worth the over $200+ a night and think it suffers from minimal options in the area of the national park forcing it to improve. The room is very dated, the bed and pillows are extremely uncomfortable (like stiff boards), the lighting is very stark and glaring like a hospital room and the AC works okay. The breakfast buffet was mostly inedible (cold turkey deli meat but put in a warming chafer making it lukewarm and sweaty, cold hard coconut roti, an open self serve pot of lukewarm diner coffee, etc) save for the fresh fruit and the chef who came out and offered to make an omelet fresh to order which was very good. The service was good and especially excellent at dinner where the server was extremely friendly and made sure everything was perfect throughout the evening. The hotel would be fine at half the price for a no frills overnight stay, still not great but not awful, however charging over $200+ in Sri Lanka for this is definitely not worth it would look else where if planning a trip to the Park.
