Nice, Friendly staff

Coconut Grove is a nice neighborhood and there are two parks nearby with waterfront access. The hotel itself as a building is intriguing and has a nice pool on the roof. But we had multiple disappointing moments during our stay which greatly affected our experience. The biggest issue was probably sound, during our stay music was bleeding into our room from the common spaces which were rented out for weddings. Upon inquiring about the noise we were told that six weddings were booked this weekend and the music would stop at 9pm - which it didn’t. As a token we were given a $50 voucher by the hotel, not per person or per day, but in total. We were there with our two children hoping for a family friendly hotel - which it was/is, up to a certain degree if you think that a party hotel is family friendly. The Hotel charges a $25 destination fee per day and when asked what a destination fee is, we were told this is to cover the “complimentary” water, tea bags and coffee bags. Either the excuse for the destination fee is lame or the hotel is too cheap to really offer these complimentary items for free. Either way not good. Despite this, our tea, water and coffee wasn’t replenished during our stay and we had to repeatedly ask for it. Would we stay there again? Probably not.

We got to the hotel a little early and it was extremely busy, so our room was not ready. This was not a problem as we were able to grab a few cocktails on the rooftop. They told us that they would text us when our room was ready. A few hours later way after check in time, we still had not received a text, so I went downstairs to check on it. I should add that the elevators were extremely slow for our entire trip. When I finally got downstairs our room was ready and I got our key. When we went to the room there was already another couple in the room! It was very awkward walking into a room and someone else already being there. Not able to get anyone on the phone at the front desk, all four of us went back downstairs. The other couple was upgraded, and we were not even apologized to. In addition, they kept us in the same room that the other couple had already unpacked in. We paid for a "city view" room and the room did not have a single window and smelled mildewy and musty. I complained on check out and again not an apology or any type of compensation just a "I will let my manager know". This was a business trip and I travel quite often for work. For the price that this hotel was, I expected more. The only good quality was that it was in a prime location, but there are other hotels around there and next time I will be looking at those.

The pool area had a DJ playing and the music was so loud my lounge chair was vibrating. Our hotel room was not ready and I was told I’d receive a text when it was but I did not. The hotel was very loud in general. A lot of lobby noise and noise from surrounding guest rooms. Valet parking was expensive and we had to wait to get car..overall not a great experience.

The Mayfair has become our local favorite hotel, to celebrate anniversaries and special occasions A true gem with its unique historical architecture and design Staff was friendly and very attentive. The newly finished renovations from the lobby to the rooms are well done with attention to detail . Wish we had more time to enjoy interment and private pool area and the Sib Sib Bar and food offerings .

We love that the rooms are so large and they all have patios. The only thing that is frustrating is housekeeping. They don’t put enough towels in the rooms and everyday we have to ask for more even though we ask to have a note for more towels added to the room. Also it takes a while to get housekeeping to answer and then bring the towels. The property is very convenient. The pool and restaurants are great and the staff outside of housekeeping is very accommodating.
