Lovely serene relaxing atmosphere. The staff are very polite and professional. A good weekend getaway to relax and breath fresh air. Lovely views of the lake. Enjoyed breakfast on the shores of the lake. I would definitely go back for a holiday. The food was fresh delicious.

The rooms are very spacious. We were a family of four. Parents and teens. Shared one big conjoined unit that has two rooms. One room with two beds and the other room with a master bedroom. Rustic feel to the rooms. Only issue was lizard poop I noticed on the floor and surfaces but I never actually saw the lizards. Definitely keep your things covered or zipped. The place is very serene. The waves from the lake are very peaceful. Boat rides to Takawiri and Mfangano are available at an additional price. The food took to long at times, but it was prepared fresh so put that into consideration.

Rusinga lodge is beautiful, the ambience and the environment around is serene, rooms are cosy although a little bit outdated.The staff are friendly, however they lack professionalism and they do not know how to anticipate the guest needs, you literally have to ask for everything from serviettes to salt.We ordered food, and one of the staff said the only thing that is available is fish and chicken so disappointing.WI-FI is not available in the rooms after paying all that amount, in 21st century how can you not have WI-FI !!!! So disappointing. Nothing was working in the spa, Beach had no beach beds, a lot of improvement is needed, especially with the staff.The beach is also dirty with lots of plastics

The rooms are very nice and cozy, but it seems that they are beginning to show their age a bit. Broken toilet seats, the downlighters not working and so on. Leaves the rooms a bit dark. One bathroom, the ones used by the kids was rather dimly lit and they complained frequently. The place has lots of potential but it is untapped. Especially on the water side, they have a wonderful beach on the lake but they don't do much with it. Another issue was how long food would take to be prepared. I think they were overwhelmed by the numbers during the holiday season. The staff however were very friendly and helpful despite these challenges. Kudos to Liz, Bella and Laura who were very helpful during our stay. Overall, it is a lovely place with lots of potential but it is largely untapped.
