萊伊瞭望飯店

Het was al een tijd geleden dat we in dit hotel geweest waren.  We hadden altijd zeer goede ervaringen in dit hotel.  Deze keer zijn we behoorlijk geschrokken van de slechte staat van onderhoud waarin het hotel verkeerd. Op de kamer bleek de lamp op het nachtkastje en de radio niet te werken omdat er geen stroom op het stopcontact bleek te staan. De gordijnen waren vuil en hingen gedeeltelijk los. Het toilet spoelde zeer moeizaam door en de afvoer van het bad bleek verstopt te zitten. Kortom wij zullen hier niet meer terugkomen.

Pretty hotel in a great location. The hotel is a few minutes and just a short walk from restaurants and pubs on the High Street. Rye is quite a compact town. Our room overlooked the car park at the back of the hotel. Not the best view but the room (deluxe double) was spacious. Breakfast was cooked to order and they were able to accommodate a coeliac diet (gluten free options). I would however recommend they keep a separate toaster at the back for gluten free bread only. They were able to provide gf bread for me but couldn’t toast it.

Charming hotel, with a room with a view Wonderful sized room, huge bathroom with a his and her sink and fantastic view to look out upon. I think I may have had a room upgrade as it was my wedding day and a lot larger than expected! Thank you to the staff if that was the case. The cooked breakfast was pretty tasty and they had continental yoghurts and fruit beforehand. The decor was a bit tired e.g ripped curtain, carpet staining etc. It was still very nice, but the closer you look the more little details from wear and tear were noticed. I'm very happy to have stayed here, and if the room would have some touch ups and and re-fresh I would rate it a 5/5.

At check-in, we were asked to choose a specific breakfast time for the next morning, which felt unnecessarily stressful. It’s a holiday. why not allow guests to arrive anytime within a reasonable breakfast window? We were then handed a single key and told that it opens all doors: the front door, our room door. When we returned late at night, there were no staff around. We let ourselves in and suddenly understood that anyone else with the same key setup could also access our room. We didn’t feel safe and hardly slept. Our room had a large spider web between the wardrobe and coffee stand, clearly not cleaned properly. The next morning, although it was 25°C and the outdoor seating was one of the reasons we booked this hotel, we were told we couldn’t sit outside for breakfast. Inside, there was a shared bowl of yogurt sitting out in the open, not individually packed and off-putting in terms of hygiene. We ordered the food, which took 20 minutes to arrive. The table hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests, crumbs were still all over it, it was also sticky, yet our plates were placed directly on top. The plates smelled so bad, clearly not properly washed. We forced ourselves to try one bite, only to find the food was also terrible. At that point, we gave up and left the dining area. There were no staff around to speak to. During checkout we explained that breakfast was disappointing, but we were met with a rude response: “You could’ve ordered something else.” No apologies
