Stayed in the pink room for 6 nights in April 2023. Unfortunately, we had some issues regarding our stay at Elaine's - an abridged version first with more details below. CONS: 1. No one was there to check us in on arrival. 2. Shoes were asked to be left downstairs. 3. No external lock on the bedroom door. 4. Do not disturb sign was ignored. 5. Extra furniture stored in our room. 6. Personal item was removed accidentally but never returned. 7. Broken furniture. 1. When we booked, we were asked to specify an approximate time of check-in and we had said 3-4pm. We arrived at 2:59pm and no one answered the door so we tried to call but after three attempts, no one picked up. After about 30 minutes of sitting outside and waiting, the host arrived and greeted us in what could only be considered a confused manner, stating that she didn't think we would have arrived yet. She informed us our room wasn't quite ready so she brought the bedding upstairs while taking us to the room and quickly made the bed. 2. A small thing but on the way to the room, we were asked to leave our shoes downstairs which we personally didn't feel comfortable with as this part of the house was accessible to other guests. It felt more like staying at a relative's house than a B&B (this echoes a few other reviews). 3a. The bedroom itself was large and well equipped, with a comfy bed, mini fridge, and plenty of outlets. However, it had no lock on the door from the outside, just one on the inside (like a bathroom). Again, more like staying at a relative's house where you would only need to lock the door from the inside when changing or sleeping. The problem is, we did not know the other guests at the B&B, nor could we be expected to just trust that our passports, laptops etc. would be safe while we were out exploring LA. If there had been a lockable safe in the room, this would not have been as much of an issue - but there was not. 3b. This next part is key. We managed to twist the lock closed from the outside, which we knew someone could untwist if they really wanted to but nevertheless, it gave us some peace of mind - it shouldn't have. 4. Our room also had a small 'do not disturb' sign on the door handle when we arrived, which we left on for the duration of our stay to ensure privacy in what is otherwise a very public and open space. We did not require housekeeping or fresh towels, and since covid, we just prefer to limit the number of people that come into our spaces. We were upset to find that this sign had been ignored and the door had been unlocked while we were out. We came back to find that a rollaway bed that was being stored in the room was no longer there and our towels had been changed. This would have been a welcomed gesture, but after only a couple of nights, we did not need fresh towels, nor had we wanted anyone to come in or out of the room. The do not disturb sign just acted as a decoration. 5. The rollaway bed in question had been under a blanket
