漢納福爾波因特飯店

Excellent food, just wish we’d skipped lunch as the portions are generous. The burgers are stacked high and the blade of beef was to die for, as were the views. We’ll definitely be back as we are moving a short walk away and a restaurant this good deserves a regular visit!

Recent adverse comments resonate with us. Room was OK but not really disabled friendly with a small number of steps from lift. (This was not requested but is an observation). room adequate for a couple of nights clean as was the bathroom with towels changed daily. The restaurant meals were variable in the Bistro on the first night the sea Bass was good but pork was said by two people to be very tough. In the restaurant on the second night the chicken was like rock confirmed by three guests. the hotel is in a good elevated position with estuary views to town and beyond. A decent terrace for drinks snacks accessed from the Bistro is good for a coffee and tea cake or drink from the bar. Tea Cakes were 50% hard! We did not use the Spa. Generally the hotel is underperforming especially in the meal quality because the meals appear to be inconsistent. Parking can be difficult as it is on street with a voucher from reception. Ther is a lift from street level accessed by a short ramp. More three star than five.

We booked the bistro for 4, ordered mains and were told it would be 20 minutes- which was fine. After 40 minutes food arrived. Pork loin was solid and couldn’t be cut, 2 sea bass dishes had luck warm cubes of potato and frazzled bits of broccoli. The sea bass fillet was fine but the dish was underwhelming and cold apart from the fish. Words with the manager ultimately resulted in free desserts and coffee and the pork loin dish was removed from the bill. The desserts took an age to come. Not a happy experience overall. A guest staying at the hotel overheard our discussion with the manager and commented that she found the food to be terrible.

My husband and I stayed here for one night whilst hiking the SWCP. Receptionist was kind and cheerful. Our room was clean and had nice linens. Our balcony/ sliding door looked right out onto the sea. Dinner was nice and breakfast was complete and delicious.

Was told the hotel was disabled friendly by staff on the phone but was bitterly disappointed not to find allocated parking as detailed. There is a lift to the reception area from the street but accessing rooms and spa all via lots of steps……..
