The Chainbridge Hotel

Abbiamo soggiornato al Chainbridge per una sola notte durante una tappa a Llangollen. La posizione di questo hotel, nella già splendida Llangollen, è straordinaria ed unica. Appena fuori dal centro, l'hotel è posizionato più in basso rispetto alla strada principale, esattamente a ridosso del fiume le cui rapide scorrono accanto ai tavolini esterni dell'hotel. In pratica è come soggiornare sul fiume stesso. Ho scelto la migliore stanza possibile: la Chainbridge Suite. Una camera da letto con letto a baldacchino, bagno molto grande con doccia e enorme vasca idromassaggio (e la particolarita' delle pareti rivestite di specchi che si scaldano), un salottino con divano in pelle con meccanismo per estendersi e un grande televisore, tantissime finestre ovunque e soprattutto un'enorme terrazzo con divanetti tavolino e dondolo esattamente sul fiume. Un posto assolutamente magico.... L'arredamento della suite come di tutto l'hotel è autenticamente vintage e consente di immergersi e respirare l'atmosfera autentica di questo albergo storico. Tuttavia, l'hotel avrebbe bisogno di una leggera rinfrescata, la stanza dovrebbe essere arieggiata meglio e nel complesso una maggiore pulizia non guasterebbe. La doccia, nonostante l'abbondanza d'acqua ovunque, aveva una pressione estremamente scarsa. Il personale è stato molto cortese tentando di risolvere il problema. Tanta magnificenza avrebbe bisogno di altrettanta manutenzione... Ulteriore nota negativa è rappresentata dalla bassa qualità della ristorazione. Anche la colazione manifestava una scarsa attenzione, qualità bassa e servizio disattento. Tutto un po' al risparmio. Nel complesso consiglio una sosta al Chainbridge considerata la straordinaria posizione e la bellezza dell'albergo, così come consiglierei a chi lo gestisce di rendere onore a tanta bellezza con maggiore attenzione.

We live fairly near and have visited before. It has a stunning location right on the River Dee. Today we called in for a coffee and a pastry mid-afternoon on a beautiful warm sunny day and we sat outside. When we arrived we were met by a delightful lady called Lisa on reception who was lovely - so helpful, warm and welcoming. We had to log our car registration with her/reception to enable free parking in the car park - otherwise it's an £8 charge. This is presumably to deter casual parking as there's a canal walk adjacent to the hotel. Because Lisa made us feel so welcome we plan to come back very soon for a Sunday lunch in the restaurant which has tables directly overlooking the river. Lisa was a real credit to the hotel and certainly encouraged us to visit again!

Lovely location, nice river view, clean room with balcony. Disappointed with meals, just run of the mill fast food, no cooked breakfast. The continental breakfast was disappointing, only cooked ham on offer, the crossiant was brioche. Staff polite but not readily available. Wouldn't stay again, but would stay again at Bridge end pub Llangollen.

Our 2nd time here. Love the location, the bedrooms, clean, overlooking the river. The sound of the flowing river and the balcony a big plus. Room no.41 has double aspect windows. It was just gorgeous.

We had a great midweek stay at this unique hotel. The location is truly magical with the beautiful river Dee in front of the hotel and the crystal clear canal behind. The views are wonderful. We had a first floor bedroom with a balcony ( no lift but staff are on hand to assist with cases ). It was a lovely room with everything we needed. We loved sitting on the balcony taking in the views and watching the canoe's, etc coming down the river .The heritage railway is the other side of the river and we saw the steam train one day. The continental breakfast served until 10am was great quality and items were quickly replenished. We had both lunch and dinner at the hotel and the choice and quality was excellent. The staff throughout the hotel were brilliant and Lisa on reception was such a friendly, lovely person with a great customer service attitude. From the initial telephone booking to our departure the service was first class. The hotel is a few minutes walk to the lovely Horseshoe Falls and a few minutes drive to the town. We spent all the time at the hotel and the Falls in the hot weather only using the car on departure. The area is a World Heritage site and is one of the most beautiful places in Wales. One of the best hotels we have had the pleasure of staying at. Great value for this quality. Highly recommended.

Some great elements, but TLC and attention to detail are needed. Location fabulous, staff efficient and friendly, we had a lovely evening meal... delicious fish pie. Aesthetic is nice, and the outdoor spaces and flowers gorgeous.. but it does feel a but unloved. Tatty signs sellotaped to the bedroom patio door and in the restaurant, despite being overall very clean, manky sealant in the shower and sink is off-putting and inexcusable at any price point. Other bit need attention too, such as our balcony was HUGE, but chairs and a tatty table just looked lost. Balcony felt in cared for... paint flaking off the wall and no light We'd return.. this is a nice hotel, but really hope the management do a thorough rece and get some snagging done.
