J'ai organisé un road trip au Pays de Galles en voitures anciennes pour un groupe d'amis (16 voitures/32 personnes) au mois de mai 2024 et nous avons séjourné deux nuits dans cet hôtel hautement recommandable. La maison a du charme, les chambres sont confortables et bien équipées, la nourriture est excellente et surtout nous avons unanimement apprécié la haute qualité de l'accueil : Alex s'est mis en quatre avec son équipe pour nous accueillir et satisfaire nos attentes : je n'oublie pas le personnel de l'ombre notamment des cuisines qui a su nous régaler. Le Glen yr Afon est de l'avis de tous mes amis le numéro 1 des 9 hôtels de notre parcours....d'où le titre de cet avis.

Having driven past this hotel many times whilst working in the area 8 years ago I had put it on my bucket list. My wife booked a room for a visit. Everything was just perfect, room 20 stunning. The staff so polite and attentive from the time we arrived until we left. We came in my classic Lancia 1971 model, secure parking. The evening meal was outstanding as was the breakfast. The trip was one we will treasure and we will return. Please pass on my thanks to all the team 🙏

We went to an 80th birthday bash in the library, so was only limited to 20 people. The food was outstanding, couldn't fault it, the only downside was that the hotel counted a 2 year old child in on the numbers (as though he was going to eat half of what was ordered). Not sure if this was because of fire safety regulations because of the size of the room or what, but it didn't make sense to us. But overall a lovely afternoon. There were plenty of opportunities to order drinks, as the waiting staff were around all the time.

My husband and I visited Glen Yr Afon a few years ago when looking at wedding venues, we eventually chose a venue closer to us but we always wanted to return to Glen Yr Afon for a meal and tonight we finally made it🙂 and we are so glad we did! The house itself is gorgeous 😍 and full of character with original period features and even though it's an old building it was clean and well kept. One member of staff was more than happy to tell us some of the rich history of the place which we loved hearing! All the staff were very polite and friendly. Our waiter was lovely so welcoming and helpful! I'm in a wheelchair and nothing was too much trouble for him. We were seated in the 'Cosy Corner' A beautiful part of the Hotel with stunning stained glass windows, (it used to be the original front entrance), it was relaxed, intimate and as the name suggests - Cosy. Perfect for our romantic meal 🥰 The food was beautifully presented and delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed it! Their chef is a food magician😋 There was a comfortable amount of time between courses too. The whole experience was amazing and we can't wait to go back!

Myself and my friend had the absolute best afternoon tea here today. Everything was freshly prepared and home baked, and there was so much of it we had to take some home. In fact no-one in the restaurant could manage to eat all theirs either. And the Restaurant Manager was the loveliest guy ever, we could have literally drowned in pots of tea at no extra charge. Highly recommended by us .

Sunday lunch was wonderful . All of the staff are a credit to this wonderful hotel and buisness. Served quickly and efficiently. Booking was easy . And a really pleasant experience for our fathers day lunch . Hospitality is hard and people are demanding and can sometimes be quite rude . Let me say you guys are nailing it in every aspect . Thank you Alex and team .

Very nice hotel, well placed to explore the beautiful Wye Valley. Spent 3 nights there, very comfortable room, food excellent . The staff are second to none, never met a more accommodating group of people, I cannot praise them enough. I have no hesitation in recommending the Gle Yr Afon

Just got back from an amazing weekend at the Glen yr Afon,firstly a big thank you to all the staff who are really friendly and can't do enough to ensure your stay is a good experience. We had our wedding here a few days and it was the perfect day from start to finish. The staff made sure the bridal suite was ready for us to start getting ready in and Carol was there to guide us with every step of the planning and on the day - making sure it ran smoothly. The venue it self was beautiful, we had our ceremony and meal in the Library which was decorated so well and the Christmas decorations made it so cosy! The staff serving us our meals and drinks in the evening were fantastic, and attentive making sure we had everything we needed. The food was stunning and everybody loved it - portions were generous and it was served piping hot. We had the best full English the next morning again which was lush! I’d reccomend anyone thinking of having a wedding , or especially a small one like we did to have it here as it was just perfect. Couldn’t fault the day. Thank you so much!! Love from the new Mr and Mrs Taylor 🧡
