It says on the wall outside that the hotel was founded in 1861 and inside there's no mistaking that, but it's a clean and friendly hotel. Very convenient to Anfield (30 minute walk) and the city centre as it is well served by buses and taxis. Our room was small but functional, the shower worked fine and it was clean. Another pillow would have been nice alright and my main gripe was that the TV was on the blink. All stations had a flickering reception and pretty much unwatchable which is poor. I was only staying one night and discovered this pretty late on so no point in complaining then. Continental breakfast was fine for my needs. Having read some of the reviews here I'd say - if you want 5 star surroundings at 2 star prices then this is not the place for you but it's a decent spot to stay and I hope to use it again.

Stayed for the West Ham game. Was easy to get to in the car and only a half hour walk from anfield (easy walk, practically in a straight line). Don’t be fooled by the poor reviews - the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the room was clean with a tv and plenty of tea and coffee available. Was cheap to book (only £49 for our night stay) and was ideal for us. This will be our regular hotel for when we get tickets moving forward!

Recently booked into this hotel for 3 nights. Left after 1 night and that was not soon enough. Booked 2 double hotel rooms and given 2 apartments. The rooms were freezing, eventually got radiators working in one room but not the other. No hot water for a shower in one and no pressure in the other. The lovely images you see on all websites must have been taken a decade ago. Hallways were dirty and smelt of **** and God knows what else. Manager never available in person or by phone and all you get is that they will respond by email. This truly is a shocking hotel and would advise you to avoid at all costs. Worst Hotel experience of my life. If I could give it minus stars, I certainly would.

Unfortunately on the coldest night of the year we stayed at the Beech Hotel. There was no heating in our room only a stand alone radiator that did not adequately heat our room. No heating in the bathroom either. When reception were asked to provide us with additional heating and bedding this did not arrive. As we did not return to our room that night until the middle of the night it was too late to insist on this. So cold it was uncomfortable. The duvet was a summer one therefore, very hard to stay warm. No explanation was given for no heating. The room itself was very clean with a very comfortable mattress. Only one pillow each in a double room and a lamp that had a short in it. One of the bedside cupboards was rickety and unsafe we couldn't use it. The location although residential was quiet and we did not hear any other visitors. Breakfast is a well planned continental option and the hotel itself was attractive, well maintained but dated in its decor. Lovely dining room with a small well stocked bar area within. Limited parking in a small car park outfront. In the summer I probably would not have needed to give such a low score as it it value for money. However, as it was so freezing in our accommodation and our requests were not acted upon I can only give it a low score. Being so cold did spoil our visit.

Room very small, shower very small, heard the pipes banging all night, floor boards creak, windows don’t open, no plug in sink, thin mattress, no net curtain at window so you have to leave curtains closed whilst getting dressed! Unable to use mirror at end of bed as bed too close, could hear people in the toilet of other rooms! Only plus was a really nice continental breakfast and nice lady receptionist which is why i have given two stars
