黑鳥飯店(The Blackbirds)

I stayed at this guest house for three nights. Its just outside of Lincoln's main town. Wragby Road, as I found out when I got Lincoln, is a very long road. Jane, one of the owners, kindly guided me to the premises. Both Dave and Jane, the owners, were very welcoming. The room I had was very clean and just what I was looking for a short stay. It even had air conditioning (serving both hold and cold) which was a surprise. The ensuite bathroom had a power shower, which was great. The bed was very comfortable, with the mattress having just the right level of firmness (not too soft or too firm). Although my room was near the main road, the triple glazing window did its job well in keeping the noise out. As the road is not a city centre road, the traffic gets reduced significantly after 8/9pm. I had a full English breakfast (vegetarian option). It very delicious and was enough to keep me feeling full until the evening meal. And that's with lots of walking done during the afternoons. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at this guest house (which should be rated at least 4*). I would definitely recommend it and I would certainly be staying here again if I travelling near Lincoln again in the future. Thank you Dave and Jane for a great stay.

Ill give you an honest review , good and bad. We arived about 3:30, pulled in to the carpark, my first impressions were not good, the carpark, the garden and outside the house was overgrown. The dogs made me jump when i got out of the car, as they started barking at the gate, im not good with dogs. when no-one answered the door, we reread the email and had not noticed we were supposed to call the day before with a time we would be arriving. Completely our mistake. We tried to call the phone number, we could hear the phone ringing but only went to answer machine, we rung the door bell to which the dogs started barking at. After wondering what to do, we walked around to the side to find the owner in the garden, found it funny that he didnt know anyone was there as the dogs were out side with him and had only barked when we parked our car and rung the doorbell. Once checked in we were shown where our room was , the room had plugs next to each side of the beds and near the long mirror , tea and coffee fertilitys and biscuits, but no spoons. A very wellcome extra was the aircon in the room, bathroom very modern, beds comfortable, room was clean apart from finding a few hairs in shower the shower, and the skirting boards needed a quick wipe over, I also noticed markes on a hand towel but this could of been a stain, it was changed the next morning. Breakfast was a choice of cereal, toast, fresh fruit, fruit juice, tea or coffee. Then you could choose off the menu something cooked. There was a toilet in the reception area next to the breakfast room which had no soap. You can not get an uber to come out to here and you will have to order a taxi about 2 hours before you need one if a weekend .

We had booked overnight for my daughter's graduation ceremony which was early the following morning at Lincoln Cathedral.The Blackbirds was in the countryside along Wragby Road. The owners - Dave and Jane gave us lots of tips about where to park for the ceremony, etc. There was free parking at the guesthouse - most city hotels had to use public car parks which charged day and night. Our rooms were spotless with nice shower, tea making facility and very comfortable beds, with airconditioning. The breakfasts were from 7am and surprisingly good with juices, cereals, fruit and cooked breakfasts, tea or coffee. We did a reconnaissance to time the trip and it took 15 minutes to drive to the The Lawn Car Park and about 6 minutes to walk to the Castle Square which was between the Cathedral and the Castle. Lots of tea shops and restaurants and we had dinner in Thailand No. 1 in Bailgate. on the first night.

Whereever we stay, we find it noisy, because we live in a very quiet rural area. Some others may not even notice the road noise.

Truly a home-from-home establishment! Dave and Jane really do go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. The freshly-cooked breakfast they provide can only be described as spectacular. The rooms themselves (there are only 4) are excellently decorated and furnished to a high standard and are situated in a single storey block slightly detached from the main house. Highly recommended and if we have to return to the area we would have no hesitation in rebooking.

Location, the property was very easy to find. The professional welcome, covering all the relevant information. The modern room that had everything you could possibly want for a good stay. Knowledgable about the surrounding area regarding eating options. The breakfast was wonderful and the ambience.

Smart design - the rooms are great for getting work done. Excellent Wi-Fi and AC and smart outlets. many outlets and with USB ports to charge from. Shower -good job - no water allover the floor like most places. this location put time thought and effort to do it right. the Breakfast service and quality was very good and fresh and Made to order.....

Nice clean hotel, close enough to Lincoln without the Lincoln price tag. Very welcoming on arrival and lovely cooked breakfast included. Would definitely stay again.
