訪訪客Five years on after Covid plus a new addition to the family, we have come back to one of our favourite hotels. I have been travelling to the Philippines for almost 20 years now, and have stayed in nearly all of Makati’s 5-star hotels, including some that are no longer there. The Discovery Primea rates among the very best. It is honestly a home from home experience as soon as you walk through the doors. Another recent reviewer from Ireland stated that she was treated like a Vip even though she was not. I would echo that sentiment. We travelled as a family of 2 adults and 2 children aged 7 and 2 and the reception that we were given, and in particular towards the children, was outstanding. We will have so many happy memories as a family from this holiday and many of them will be related as to how we were treated by this amazing team of people; and that is at all levels, from management to door security. We stayed in October and November this year in 2 separate blocks of 5 nights. In between, we visited a resort and the hotel held our excess luggage until we returned. On our return there were treats for the children and us adults in our room and we were really made to feel like we had come home. The rooms are large, comfortable and opulent and consist of a separate bathroom and bedrooms, depending on room choice, a lounge area and a kitchenette. The kitchen area has its own washing machine and drier, which is a brilliant idea and meant that we had all of our washing done prior to returning to the UK. Cleaning standards are exceptional with the daily room maintenance taking up to 45 minutes. They are thorough! Facilities at the hotel are excellent with the Infinity pool being a highlight as you have an elevated view of the cityscape from the rear of the hotel. Incidentally, the rear of the hotel is also the best place for rooms as it is away from the traffic noise on Ayala Avenue and the views are equally spectacular. One of the big advantages with this hotel is its location. Cross the road from the entrance lobby and you are directly into Rustans department store and the Glorietta Mall. Greenbelt is also a mere 5-minute walk away where you can access the better restaurants. I would agree with another recent reviewer that breakfast is the one area that the hotel could perhaps improve on. As a European, breakfast here is more targeted to the Asian guests and there is not as much choice or variety for people like me. I must state though that I never went hungry and my wife probably enjoyed local foods more than I did given that this is her city of origin. A proper toasting machine would be a real benefit over the portable oven / grill in use currently. This took up to 10 minutes per guest and you inevitably had to wait for it to be free. Having said all this, alternative items were available on request and the team in the restaurant were always delighted to help in whatever way they could. In a nutshell, if you are travelling to Makati and you need a g
