As we only had a meal could not comment on anything else however we are certain that the hotel side would be just as good the owners where always around and checking that we where happy with everything we are Tilly Esther and John would recommend to anyone
Super location, the bar had a great atmosphere like a REAL pub. The staff were very pleasant and helpful throughout the entire weekend. The room was spotless, well serviced and very comfortable. I will definitely be back. Robert Dublin 11.
Perfect location and rooms were lovely. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and the beds were very comfortable. There are definitely some things that could be better. Would let guest know its over bath shower in advance of stay, people have mobility issues and with modern bathrooms assume these things might be accessible but climbing into bath for a shower was not ideal. After a long day driving and touring would be nice to have tv reception in room, it was really bad reception and very few channels to browse. Breakfast ‘hot’ foot was not hot and got even colder with only having cold plates to put the food on to. Toasters are so slow, need to put toast on 10 minutes before rest of food. Iron and table in room would be good. These things wouldn’t put us off staying but they are all things that take away the shine of a nice place.
A lovely experience yet again. We come to Lyrath every year before returning to work after Christmas. The service is excellent and the hotel is just beautiful. I would definitely recommend it and to make full use of the facilities while you are there.
Stayed here for one night with my Boyfriend and was not a good experience. We booked to Stay in mount Juliet but little did we know we weren’t staying in the Manor House , but the courtyard hotel in the property. The Manor House and all facilities from the Manor House was closed off due to a private function so bare that in mind when booking with this place as they don’t tell you in advance. We phone that week to book into the lady Helen restaurant to be told we can’t as it’s a private function and can’t access the Manor House.. only for we rang we would have never known. They promised to up grade our room over the confusion.. however they never did. When checking staff struggled to understand and apologised for not upgrading… We had a family member ring in advance and give a voucher as a birthday gift to be left in the room with a card… was never done. They paid for this voucher and yet staff just didn’t alert us of this. Thankfully we knew in advance and rang reception when it wasn’t in room… So if we didn’t ring we wouldn’t have gotten voucher even though it was paid for???- If you are a five star hotel all staff employed should be fluent in English. If you’re coming to this hotel to experience Irish culture don’t bother. Not one Irish staff member worked for the two days we were there. Was disappointing to not encounter one Irish staff member to discuss our issues with. The members of staff we brought the issues to , had trouble understanding and were very incompetent to deal with it. When dinner time came we could Had more problems. The waiter came to take order after sitting around for ages and split the candle over my partner and burnt his leg with wax…again the lack of English speaking caused more frustration. The bar in hunters yard was also very disappointing nothing exciting. We had been looking forward to use the whiskey bar in mount Juliet but again was closed off to public .. We went to the pool the next day and jacuzzi was closed… it was just a very bad five star experience. It’s not worth going. I’d recommend spending your money and going to a better hotel With Irish staff to experience Irish culture and better quality of service. Was shocking.
Needed a night away and saw an offer on Rorys travel club for the Avalon. Swift check-in, however, I was asked to pay up front, which I found a little offensive. The room was spotless, if a little warm, but a desktop fan was swiftly supplied. For some reason, I was allocated a wheelchair room so the shower was a little crowded because of the equipment required for such a facility. Towels were very rough and no shower caps supplied. So bring your own. Restaurant was closed, so dinner was served in the bar, which was not really comfortable. I ordered the chicken wings, followed by seabass. The wings arrived and unfortunately they were covered in a type of paste as opposed to a sauce. They were more of a casserole constituency. First time ever that I left wings behind. The seabass came out swiftly, too swiftly. Before the server had a chance to place it on the table, I saw the huge pile of food. There was a mountain of diced veg and mashed potatoes. The seabass was placed on top, and the whole thing was smothered in a white sauce. I requested that she return it to the kitchen and replace it with plain seabass with the potatoes on the side and no sauce. This was promptly taken care of and was served as it should be. The fish was excellent, melt in the mouth and well cooked. Perfect. Night passed peacefully, except for a rather loud extractor fan outside my bedroom window, which was eventually switched off at 11.26pm. Breakfast was very good, but you have to queue to make your toast because there is only one toaster. Coffee was strong and plentiful. The Avalon is a no frills, budget hotel, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food portions are enormous, and there is plenty of outside seating for us nasty smokers. In conclusion, it is a really nice place for the price. I would say they get a lot of business people, passing through and families visiting the nearby discovery park. The jewel in their crown is their staff and you certainly won't leave hungry.
