Walking around Ambleside on a Tuesday eve and everywhere seemed a little be lack , so walked into the Ambleside Inn as we love a bit of atmosphere and people watching while we eat. I had the mussels and my partner the chowder off the specials and it was delicious. The staff were tremendous, chatty and welcoming that I had to ask for their names. Raz, Jessie and Sylvie.…what a lovely team. We are here for a week and most certainly will be back x

Popped in with our puppy Rupert whilst waiting for our apartment to be ready, Rupert wasn't sure about the steps down, but the staff encouraged him and made a fuss when he did it. Service was efficient, friendly and sweet food was more than we anticipated and we had a lovely relaxing lunch. Thanks to the team, Rupert will see you again before we go 🐾 x

Had the best lunch and coffee after a big walk with my daughter at the Ambleside. Nice welcoming bar and seated area. Service was delightful, food was excellent, especially the paprika crispy potato skins made by Anthony the chef! Would highly recommend popping in if you are in town.

Called in for food as we have done on each of our last 4 visits to Ambleside in the last 12 months. It continues to get progressively worse. I accept I will pay premium prices it's the nature of the area we love. I recall the first time we ate here in Feb 2022 it was suberb. So how do we arrive at we shan't bother again only 15 months later. You will always get the passing footfall but us as granted relatively infrequent but regular customers will not be returning. The food presentation appeal is non existent. A burger and a bowl of chips on a plate £16. Stick a bit of salad and coleslaw on there it would make such a difference. For the record I had the burger and my wife had scampi. They got her order wrong so as I ate mine my wife had to wait for for hers which meant we didn't eat together. We only had soft drinks. As a gesture perhaps these could have been knocked off the bill. As it was whilst the food is OK but it really wouldn't take much of an effort to make it more appealing and actually get somewhere towards looking like value for money. I know the Inn Collective have invested massively in the area but initial standards need to be maintained and in our experience over the last 12 months or so that is not happening. As a final word the staff were nice and the pub itself is great. The food needs some work.

Living locally I don’t often eat out but with a friend visiting we decided after a walk to have a quick snack. Arrived and perused menu. Chose from the lighter menu as it was so hot and we are not young so a light meal was adequate. Tried to order at bar. It was apparently (after waiting 5.01 so menu no longer available. Friend was all for leaving however a genuinely nice gentleman who seemed to be clearing tables watching door and generally paying attention chatted to us as my friend sat fuming. I enquired if there was an age limit to the children’s menu as due to the extreme heat we didn’t require much. Sure no problem so two delicious superfood salads and several drinks later my friend had relaxed. The kind gentleman even showed us the adult portion on way past and acknowledged it would have been too much for us. So that is what I call great customer service and I take my hat off to that gentleman who saved the day.
