If you're in Kolkata to enjoy the romantic ambiance of a city with real soul, this place is the right establishment, in the right location and has more than reasonable prices. Immaculately kept rooms, helpful but unassuming staff and some lovely little touches (particularly loved the old books and pictures of grandad and great grand dad in the reception) make this a place a real jewel and a nice surprise to end our trip to India with. If you suspect Im exagerating, do yourself a favor and take a chance on it. You'll be glad you did.

A decent stay near sealdah station. Don't expect much facilities at this price point. However rooms are clean and stuffs are well behaved. The locality is having a vegetable market so a bit filthy and smelly. But once you reach the guest house it's all neat and clean.
I was looking for cheap hotel near sealdah railway station and i got this. Room and washroom were clean.
Everything was good.
Metro and railway station is just 500m.
it would have been in range. then it was excellent choice.
AArindamRoom was fine, clean n comfortable with perfect air con temperature. The half open shower cubicle in the wash room is annoying since one needs to be carefully taking shower to avoid the mess up of the entire washroom. Full partition would have made life better. Food is good with great spread in the weekends lunch n dinner. But the hotel crowd is quite low especially in the morning breakfast hour. The hotels policy to let out rooms n conference rooms to companies is the result of this. No offence but the restaurant gets extremely noisy with this crowed bulldozing their way for food and judging people around. The also dump their backpacks in the restaurant chairs but take seat in others. This experience is not once but in both my trips in end May 22 and this early Aug 22. Not sure what hotel can do about it but this is what it is. The restaurant staffs are friendly while the reception staffs needs more training. They are cold and lack professionalism.
Overall good place to stay for the price they charge.

Despite their claims of providing seamless connectivity, I found myself struggling to maintain any form of online presence. This was particularly frustrating as I needed the internet for both personal and professional purposes. Moreover, the staff’s attitude towards this problem was shockingly unprofessional. When I approached them regarding the internet outage, their responses were inconsistent and unhelpful. One moment I was watching TV, and the next, they denied any internet availability for the TV service. It was baffling to encounter such contradictory statements from different staff members. But what truly added to my disappointment was the billing discrepancy. The hotel’s website had clearly stated a 30% discount on the invoice, yet the bill I received had no such deduction. When I inquired at the reception, their explanation regarding tax additions did not align with the final amount, which was still inexplicably 2500 more than expected. I felt compelled to make the payment, given the circumstances, especially with my two-year-old son with me, but it felt like being subjected to the hotel’s unfair practices. Attached is the invoice that highlights this unfair treatment. I strongly advise against staying at Roland Hotel. The level of service is severely lacking, and it seems customer satisfaction is not their priority, especially once payment is received. Please be wary of these issues if you consider staying here. Be cautious about if considering a stay at Roland Hotel: 1. Internet Connectivity: Be prepared for potentially poor or unreliable internet service, which could be a significant inconvenience, especially if you require consistent online access. 2. Staff Responsiveness and Consistency: Expect possible challenges with the staff, including receiving contradictory information and unhelpful attitudes towards resolving issues. 3. Billing and Promotions: Be vigilant about billing practices. Confirm any promotional discounts (like the mentioned 30% off) in advance and carefully review the final invoice for accuracy, including understanding how taxes are applied. 4. Customer Service Post-Payment: There might be a notable decline in service quality or responsiveness once payment is made, so it’s advisable to address any concerns or issues before settling the bill.
訪訪客用戶Hotel is nearby birla school, mint o park. Park street and Arselan biryani ( park circus) is walkable distance. Theater road join birla platarium. Rate is quite high on the basis of service. Breakfast is not good. Charging for drinking water. Restaurant was full of hukka lover in the evening. Smoke is everywhere in restaurant.
TTanjilHonestly speaking, the hotel was great. The location was a bit far from the airport, BUT it is located at one of the cleanest places in Kolkata, making it a huge plus. Now for the details:
Room: 5/5. The decoration, the ambiance, the wall art.
Lobby and other places: 5/5. Absolutely loved the design and hotel architecture.
Bathroom: 3.5/5. Honestly, it is a basic bathroom, but I expected more from a 5 star hotel, even on the cheaper rooms. There was no bathtub, which I feel is fairly common everywhere I’ve stayed in.
ONE PROBLEM: A major issue I have faced was after turning on the water. It had a smell, which I am guessing is from the river beside it. I feel like the Hotel should add a water filter to avoid this problem, because the smell doesn’t go away until the water is turned on for at least 5-10minutes. If I wasn’t South Asian, I probably couldn’t have taken the smell as easily as I did. I would put this in High Priority to fix for attracting many more customers.
Bar and Food: 4/5. Good collection, great taste but very expensive.
Lastly, a shoutout to Al Jabbar and Al Sahid from the Housecleaning service, they were extremely polite, fast, very thorough with their cleaning and very well mannered. Absolutely a delight to talk to and learn about the local areas.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Very rare to find such good hotels, with some minor flaws.
