We had our wedding here and it was stunning. The food was amazing, the rooms so comfortable and spacious. The portions and wine was so generous. The staff were extremely helpful, kind, courteous and easy to deal with both on the day, at the tasting and during the whole planning process. We couldn't have enjoyed it more or could recommend it highly enough, for a meal, a drink, a night's stay or a wedding day. An absolutely stunning location, beautiful venue and thoroughly relaxing experience. We chose the venue due to our consistently positive experience here over the years and fond and happy memories here both for meals, drinks and enjoying the annual festival of writing and ideas. Also very good value for money.

The rooms are amazing the views of the Blackstairs is stunning. Wonderful place to relax looked after by attentive staff and enjoy first rate meals. From the breakfast to the scones at 11 to the chowder for lunch and delicious cod for dinner .. we will be back… for longer next time!

Celebrated our anniversary with friends in this cantata family run hotel friendly attentive staff and amazing food in the Restaurant. Venison cooked to perfection and cod that melted in your mouth. Would highly recommend this spot… We will be back to stay next time

Another fabulous stay at The Step House hotel in Borris. We absolutely love this hotel - the food is excellent - beautifully presented by friendly and efficient staff who go out of their way to ensure that the stay is perfect. We have also been during the Summer months when the garden is in full bloom and it is a pleasure to sit there - to listen to the birds singing and to admire the flowers whilst sipping a glass of wine - definitely one of life's pleasures.

Had dinner in the bar. The restaurant had no bookings on the night we visited so we didn't want to be dining on our own. The restaurant menu was available in the bar. I had wild venison (€38) - this came with no veg so I ordered a portion of seasonal veg (€4.50). The seasonal veg turned out to be green beans and nothing else. Somebody is having a laugh here!!

The Hotel accommodation and Staff were just superb, the atmosphere was simply so relaxing and I can state that we were all appreciative of the service provided. The surrounding countryside and views from Mount Leinster added to the joy of our stay at Dtep House

I attended the Step House for a Christmas lunch with the Borris lace makers, a group of 24 woman. We have to say the food was fabulous and the service was excellent. We would like to mention Benny for the great service we were giving. We will be back.

Few villages the size of Borris are blessed with so good a hotel. The step house is family owned and run with an eye on elegance and quality. The annual dinner of a small sports club brought me there. Lovely function room, attentive staff, good quality drink and gorgeous food immaculately prepared and served. Delicious soup and breads, hake in a bed of tomatoes, perfect veg and to-die-for mash potatoes. An absolutely delicious dessert. Wines were very reasonable and good. They just know how to do simple elegant quality. Wonderful.

A lovely hotel in a beautiful village ! The hotel is beautiful on the outside! The lobby is gorgeous ! Marble and chandeliers, a beautiful staircase ! We booked the penthouse , and it was so spacious and beautifully decorated ! The balconey had a fantastic view. Some of the carpet and furnishings are worn , and could do with being updated . The bathroom was beautiful ! I had a fab bath , and shower! I think the sauna is and bit of a waste and would really benefit from a hot tub maybe on the balconey if it could be done . Food was fantastic , especially lovely for vegetarians! Kind and friendly staff ! Would love to return and see the other rooms !
