What we liked best about Algret House was Greta’s warm hospitality and the proximity to the center of Killarney. You’re away from the tourist scrum, but it’s only a ten minute walk into town. Breakfasts were also good, and our room was very quiet. The B&B isn’t located in the most attractive neighborhood—it’s in a treeless suburban development. But, as I say, it’s a short walk into town. The room was fine, although it was rather small and cramped. The best thing was really Greta: she gave us excellent advice on restaurants and on the best pubs for traditional Irish music. (Be sure not to miss Paddy Sheehan’s!) We didn’t find this to be a lovable place, but it was a good strategic choice for enjoying Killarney, which is, unfortunately, glutted with tourists--best to stay at a place outside the center like this one.
