Perfect location and rooms were lovely. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and the beds were very comfortable. There are definitely some things that could be better. Would let guest know its over bath shower in advance of stay, people have mobility issues and with modern bathrooms assume these things might be accessible but climbing into bath for a shower was not ideal. After a long day driving and touring would be nice to have tv reception in room, it was really bad reception and very few channels to browse. Breakfast ‘hot’ foot was not hot and got even colder with only having cold plates to put the food on to. Toasters are so slow, need to put toast on 10 minutes before rest of food. Iron and table in room would be good. These things wouldn’t put us off staying but they are all things that take away the shine of a nice place.

Very glad we chose to stay at the Kilkenny Ormonde for our 2 nights in Kilkenny. The location was so convenient to everything we wanted to do in Kilkenny including the castle, pubs, restaurants, shopping, etc. The parking was easy, in a garage right across the street and only 7.50 euro per night. The room we chose was called a Superior Double & Single Bed Room. It was spacious for 3 people with a king size bed (2 twins together) in one room and 2 single beds in the side room. The side room also had a large desk, but no TV. There was a TV in the main bedroom, but had to call for batteries for the remote to make the TV work. The bathroom was a good size with 2 sinks and counter space. The shower was a bit different, raised about a foot or so off the ground, perhaps due to plumbing. We were a little warm sleeping, even though it was in the 50's (f) outside, because we didn't see any a/c or temperature controls in the room. There was a fan that my son used. We didn't try to open any windows, so not sure if that would have been possible. We really enjoyed having a drink in the large lounge/bar area each of the 2 nights we were there. The second night there was a live singer who was very talented. The included breakfast was good, not great. There were hot items that they would serve to you, but made to order items not included. We did not have any time to use the pool or workout facilities, which are located next to the parking garage, right across the street from the main hotel. Overall, a good stay at a solid hotel.

This is a beautiful hotel, We had a few small issues with our room not being serviced on the second day of our stay. Also on the third day the bed was made up, but we were left with no towels or water. I had to ask one of the housekeepers on tje corridor for towels. Not what you would expect from a four star hotel . Breakfast was a big let down, the full Irish was like something you would get in a petrol station deli counter. Cheapest of ingredients the bacon and sausage and hash brown were disgusting . This in no way was a four star breakfast. We asked for soft eggs and on both mornings the were like hockey pucks, Also the coffee in the bar is dreadful. An espresso arrived in a tea cup!! I have to say the plus + rooms were fab and spotlessly clean as was the whole hotel. It would rake very little to really make this an amazing hotel I would start with the quality of the breakfast .There were two staff members who were absolutely outstanding and made up for the shortcomings of other departments . Helena and Tony were exemplary They epitomize how things should be done.Without doubt Helena and Tony need to be recognised for their friendliness and being so helpful. Also the night porter on Monday night was top and the young Irish lad behind the bar Probably wouldn't stay again because of the housekeeping and terrible breakfast.

My wife and I are just after having a 3 night stay to celebrate or 46th wedding anniversary in Lyrath and we were both extremely pleased with level of service we received while there.On our arrival we were greeted by Courtney on reception who could not have been more pleasant and went the extra mile by providing a complimentary room upgrade which we opted for but not before we were shown both rooms by Susan the duty manager who was excellent and very pleasant during the duration of our stay.All the waiting staff in both restaurants and in the breakfast room were really friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.During our stay we met Lorraine the owner,in the company of Rudy and Murphy her 2 beautiful dogs who are a big hit with many of the guests.Lorraine and her husband are very hands on with the day to day running of hotel and my guess is that's why it's ahead of the competition.Great outdoor space with a choice of walks and lovely gardens.Just before we left we were speaking with Dermot the friendly doorman and he told us he had 2 jars of freshly harvested honey from the hives on the estate which we purchased from reception.We will be back for sure and we highly recommend Lyrath to anyone looking for 5 star accommodation and service.
