This is a lovely hotel well appointed and beautifully presented. It’s very nicely decorated and furnish with quality fixtures and fittings. The staff are very affable, smiley and wish to please their guests. However we discovered that below the surface organisation, management and supervision is not good and is losing its grip. The reception team do not communicate with one another. When we booked in we changed our length of stay with the manager - and a receptionist later sent a voice message asking why we hadn’t booked out. The restaurant and kitchen frequently made basic errors in the correct order of food to be served to us. On one occasion at breakfast a waitress serving a porridge dish was followed almost simultaneously by a second member of staff bearing the cooked main course. We booked into the restaurant on the first night and were told that as there was a big party coming in at 7.30 we’d be well advised to come for 7, to which we agreed. We duly arrived at 7 to be told our table was not ready….and were sent to the bar. Then we were forgotten and after a 15 minute wait for the promised complementary drink I chose to check with the restaurant. The big party had arrived early and were being served before us, throwing the team into confusion. Our initial booking did not point out that breakfast was NOT included. Instead an à la carte menu has been created. Not the normal hotel breakfast….it would cost €26.50 for one normal 'full breakfast' . A very high price particularly if you stay for 3 days and there are two of you. (€159!). This is a case of BUYER BEWARE! These are just some of the examples of poor supervision and lack of management procedures that reduce this hotels opportunity to be a quality establishment I wanted to offer suggestions on how the hotel might overcome some of these issues but was not able to speak to the manager. It seems as though the hotel is under obligation to be run as directed by owners who are not aware of what is going on or the effect it has on the guests.
