If you want to have a true experience of the Chitwan National Park with the best local guide who is passionate about the jungle and has a ton of knowledge about the wildlife, then this is the best place for you! Bishnu (the owner of the lodge and guide) is truly amazing! He started answering any questions I had even before I arrived at the area. His wife and his kids are truly adorable and they made me feel like being at home. I went with Bishnu in a half day jeep safari and a full day walking (and boat) safari, as well as some other activities like bird watching. Even if we were not lucky enough to see a tiger, we saw many rhinos, deers and monkeys! Bishnu knows every corner of the forest and he was explaining to us every detail and answering any questions we had. While other guides may show you only the basics without putting much effort, Bishnu is trying his best to find the best spots in the jungle so that the guests could have the greatest experience! One day of my 3 days stay, I was the only guest and Bishnu arranged extra activities especially for me so as not to get bored! Last but not least, the food was fresh and homemade, and it was the best food I had in Nepal! These 3 days full of adventure and great hospitality, was the best part of my trip in Nepal and makes me want to visit Nepal and Bishnu again in the future for sure! Bishnu and your family, thank you for everything!

Chital lodge is a very nice place, far away from the crowds. It is operated by Bishnu Bhusal who runs the place together with his lovely wife. Bishnu is also the guide who takes you in to the park by foot, jeep or by boat. He has lived here all his life and can tell you a lot about the animals and nature inside the park. Moreover the prices for safaris and excursions are quite cheap. If you want to have a real chance in meeting the true animals of Chitwan, my advice is to book Chital Lodge in Meghauli.

My stay in Chital Lodge in Megahauli, hosted by Bishnu and Saoru, was amazing. Although I enjoyed my walking safaris near Sauraha as well, I do wish I had simply spent all my time here near Megahauli. Less known and touristic, beautiful and just as wildlife-rich area of the national park. The safaris are guided by the host Bishnu who clearly lives and breaths the natural world of Chitwan. Bishnu and Manoj were amazing guides who put up with monsoonal rain, heat, and bugs to help me see many rhinos, monitor lizards, great hornbills, and, lucky enough, even a tiger! And way more. And as a huge plus, Saoru is another very kind host and a wonderful cook. The lodge is clean and pleasant, I added an extra night just to relax there. If I return to Nepal, Chital Lodge will be a place I revisit. Grateful to have found this beautiful gem.

Bishnu and his family were the most wonderful hosts and guides. Bishnu is hugely passionate about animals, and it was evident throughout both our jeep and walking tours. He is an expert - he knew so many details about each and every animal. The care and diligence with which he led his tours was also so abundant -- he took us to innumerous different spots throughout the national park and listened carefully to the animals to track their movements so that we could have some unforgettable animal spottings and experiences. He spent extra time tracking animals, late into the day, to ensure the most memorable experience for us. Additionally, these are the best people -- Bishnu and his family were so welcoming and friendly, we enjoyed our conversations with them immensely. Bishnu inherited the lodge from his father and the pride and passion he has for nature is so very evident, and it was this passion for nature he shared with us. We feel honored and grateful that this was apart of our travels. Thank you for such a memorable and spectacular stay. We can't thank you all enough.

Na een lange bustocht werden we op gewacht door Bishnu bij de bushalte en vervolgens wandelde we naar de lodge. Bishnu verteld van alles over zijn passie (de natuur en tijgers). Na inchecken onze kamer, verwacht er niet te veel van, maar alles is er: wc, douche warm en koud water stoeltjes om even lekker buiten te zitten. Op aankomst dag toch nog maar besloten om een jeep Safari te doen. Uiteraard geen garantie op wilde dieren. Maar wat een geluk een Tijger op nog geen 10 meter van de jeep. En diverse neushoorns. Bij terug komst heerlijk gegeten in de lodge gemaakt door de vrouw van Bishnu. Volgende dag vroeg er uit voor de walkingsafari eerst met de jeep daarna met bootje rivier over en toen op pad (spannend) Bishnu voorop zijn collega achter op en wij er tussen. En wij waren de gelukkigste toeristen want weer een tijger, neushoorns, olifant en hertjes. Ca 18 km door het oerwoud en open plekken gelopen. Rivieren overgestoken. Na een lange dag voldaan naar huis en de volgende dag weer door naar de volgende reisbestemming Bishnu heeft gezorgd voor een fantastische ervaring. Hij weet heel veel van de natuur. En we hebben ons geen moment onveilig gevoeld.

We spent 4 nights at Chital Lodge with Bishnu and his lovely family and had some unforgettable days of safari in the park with Bishnu as our guide. The best way to experience the park is without doubt to hike a full day through the tropical and subtropical forests. Boating along the river watching crocodiles and crossing rivers barefooted with small fishes swimming around you. We saw lots of tracks from Bengal Tigers but “only” managed to spot one, while we saw many one-horned Rhinos even close. One word of advice: it is not risk free to walk around a park with wild animals (it is not a zoo) and should you choose to do it I can definitely recommend using an experienced and knowledgeable guide like Bishnu, that knows the park as his own pocket and has a great knowledge about every aspect of the life in the park. Chital Lodge also offers jeep safari which is a nice addition when your feet and legs are worn out :) The lodge itself is a bit primitive which is also reflected in the price tag but the sheets are clean, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the food is homemade, homegrown and delicious. Will definitely visit again if I get the chance!
