When we arrived we were assigned room E3. This is bottom floor E building next to the pool. A dark little room that shares a common patio with rooms E1 and E2. The room has a view of people sitting at the pool. The room features a king bed in the bedroom, along with a pullman in the living room. The sliding glass door does not have a locking mechanism, just a handle. According to the on site personnel, these rooms are pre-assigned by Raintree and there is no option to move us to a nicer room. So this glorious hole cost me 2 years of points... Fabulous. We went to Hilo to stay with friends for the first couple of nights. Interestingly enough, we came back on night 3 to find that someone had started a plumbing project in the kitchen... How I wonder did they figure that we would not return? Back to Hilo we went. This would have been our 5th stay at the Kona Reef over the last 10 years or so. This it the third occasion where we have booked it through Raintree Vacation Club. Last year we di as well, and we had to leave the first night because the whole room smelled like someone had poured an entire bottle of Clorox in the place... burning eyes, it was bad news. On day 2 we bought cleaning supplies and cleaned it ourselves. So my point, the Reef is nice... we've rented other rooms there through other companies that have been just fine... but please, DO NOT RESERVE YOUR ROOM AT THE KONA REEF USING RAINTREE VACATION CLUB! You'll be sorry. Ive posted pictures of the room including the wonderful tub, and the mess the plumbers left us on day 3.

Pros - Quiet (pool closes at 10pm), convenient location, clean. Cons - Older complex showing its age and wear. Bathrooms are in serious need of updating. Not every room has a view, but then who speeds that much time in their room while in Hawaii.

We stayed in E3 this was sub par unit: slider door no lock, front door in bad condition. Bathroom: tub flaking and patched bottom, no soap i containers, cracked sink top, toilet hard to flush, floor tile so dirty I washed it myself. Uncomfortable sofa, ask for a second chair no result, dirty drapes, murphy bed took up living room, tv (2) did not work on arrival

The condo at this property was a huge disappointment. Do not book through ******* Kona reef- Raintree. The unit B1 which were assigned looked out a stonewall with no view at all. The bathroom shower had a leak. The curtains on the patio doors were falling off the walls and did not close. We were told by many guests that they were assigned this unit previously and had many issues. We contacted the office several times and were told that most likely we were bumped due to pervious guests booking after us. We booked a view room in September. Most of the other guests we spoke with told us not to ever book this property through *******. We would return if we could guarantee Oceanview room which majority of units have. This was so disappointing considering we looking forward sitting on patio enjoying view

Nice resort close to town. You can walk to the restaurants and other amenities. The pool area is great. The unit we had was a little dated and could use some sprucing-up but was fine for the time we were here.

Booked unit# A6 thru Kona Coast vacations knowing that this is an older, somewhat tired, development. Our dealings with Kona Coast were very satisfactory and would definitely book thru them again. The unit itself is showing a tired look, even with what appears new furniture that is somewhat rather uncomfortable. The raised bed was an initial challenge but a trip to Walmart to get a step stool was helpful. If you suffer from any disabilities getting up and down would prove a problem. Location is excellent, oceanfront with no security issues as the development can be accessed by anyone. Pros: great location. Reasonable prices. Good booking agent Cons: unit needs deep cleaning, sofa bed uncomfortable. Needs a foam topper to keep the springs out of your kidneys. Fix the shower valve/mixer and hose. Repaint. Dump the plastic flowers.
