On arrival we were made very welcome by Emma, and we had a good feeling as we booked in. Our room had a very Scottish flavour, tartan decor; lovely & warm, as it had turned colder the further up North we travelled. Lots of traditional Scottish decor, and very relaxing after a long day of travelling. The bed was comfortable, especially the Tunnocks treats; and the bathroom with shower was very spacious. We had to book our time slot for dinner, and enjoyed a drink in the lounge beforehand. Although there was no draught beers, there was a good range of local bottled ales just waiting to be tried out. The meals we had were always cooked to order by Euan. Lots locally sourced, beautifully presented and tasted delicious. After dinner there is an opportunity to test out the malt whiskies, in a Flight. Four wee drams tasters. Euan knew a lot about whisky! We stayed for three nights. It's the perfect location for John O'Groats, a day trip to the Orkneys, visiting the Castle of Mey, or just walking along the coast. Castle of Mey is closed Monday & Tuesday, just the days we were there, but you can walk to it & take photos easily. All in all, a very pleasant stay, with friendly hosts.
