CURIOCITY約翰內斯堡 - 青年旅社(Curiocity Backpackers Johannesburg)

Van de buitenkant ziet het er mooi uit, maar aan de binnenkant laat het soms te wensen over. Veel ongedierte zoals kakkerlakken en andere beestjes gewoon in de kamer. Als je hier wat van zegt of vraagt of ze insecten spray hebben, lachen ze het weg. Ze doen er niks aan! Wc zonder licht, waarvan het licht niet wordt gemaakt. Wc zonder wc-bril, wordt ook niet gemaakt. Sommige kluisjes zijn stuk/kunnen niet meer op slot. - De algemene ruimte is wel leuk en gezellige. Bar met personeel. Alleen de muziek staat vrij hard en tot 23u. Dus iedereen hoort tot 23u de muziek. - buiten in de straat 3 clubs die van 18-02:00u zeer harde muziek draaien de hele week door. Ook door de weeks als er niemand binnen is ＞ dit is met oordopjes te horen, door enkel glas enz..

The staff were good, competent and friendly. The location was good for city access but the partying started in the hostel every evening by 7 and didn't finish until about midnight, but the street party noise didn't finish until 2am. it was so loud in the hostel there was no sleep to be found, nightly until will after 2am. Outside people, not staying at the hostel, have easy access into the whole hostel, which is not safe. My uber, as well as other guests' uber were very unsure about dropping us at the address upon arrival. The front counter is tiny and behind a locked gate, even though access to the on site bar is fully open and that access leads to find and the front counter. Bathrooms were not very clean, nor inviting. My female dorm was an unbelievably cold room (extra blankets were provided and one under desk heater, although with so much load shedding, the heater was of no use. The bunks were so close together, you could not sit upright on the bottom ones. Lockers we're only big enough to hold a day pack. They flies in my dorm squeaked so loudly, it woke my entire room when I moved around. The curtains were insufficient to cover the windows, or keep out the light. The mattress was so overused, it was permanently imprinted in the middle so if you wanted to sleep off center you have to roll up the incline to do so. The single pillow was flattened and separated into chunks, and had to be squished together to become useful. The showers are black tile and have no room inside then for so much as a towel. Everything you bring to the shower had to be hung outside the shower, in three open bathroom area. There are no emergency lights in the bathroom, so during load shedding the entire room is completely blacked out.

When me and my girlfriend arrived at Curiocity Hostel we had a really warm welcome. The staff gave us great advise about the do’s and dont’s arround the area. This is a hostel where locals and travelers come together. That creates an amazing atmosphere where you will have good conversations. The rooms are quite clean. Do keep in mind that Foxstreet is a partystreet. If you only want peace and quiet during the night, this place might not be up your alley. The best part about the hostel is that it’s a perfect entrypoint into Maboneng. Go do the Sowetotour and the Inner city walking tour. You won’t regret it! Shout out to the great bartenders, staffmembers, the cooks and our amazing tourguide Eko!

Fue mi primera experiencia viajando sola y fue increible, todos los que trabajan el el hostel fueron super amables y pacientes con mi inglés que no era muy bueno. El lugar tiene mucha onda, es limpio y cómodo. Me hospede dos de las habitaciones compartidas para solo mujeres, no son super lujosas pero realmente estuvieron bien. Ahí mismo podes contratar excursiones, tengan en cuenta que serían solo en inglés, pero es algo a tener en cuenta. Se encuentra ubicado en el centro de Jobourg y la verdad que me dijeron varias veces que suele ser inseguro, asique solo me.movi sobre la calle donde está ubicado, es una calle muy copada, con bares y cafés, galerías de arte y a un poco mas de 4 cuadras hay un supermercado y una farmacia para abastecerse. Super recomendable!

I enjoyed sharing a dorm with my whole group, good bunk beds, and a little balcony as well. We liked the laundry service and all used it, just as we liked the food and drinks. We had two very nice nights, and I slept well even though there was partying and rugby celebrations in the bar downstairs. So maybe bring some earplugs if you have sensitive ears at night.

Amazing hostel in the heart of a vibrant area in Jozi. The staff are amazing and the facilities are clean and safe, we really enjoyed the walking tour also. we look forward to sending our guests to this location in the very near future.

The hostel is on the fox street which is lively from morning till evening. People working at reception, bar and around are extremely helpful. My rating is all for them. Sadly the hostel including my room, bathroom, toilets were dirty. Dustbins were always full. Bathrooms had no hand wash. Communal kitchen was kept clean, probably the only common place that I felt was clean. Breakfast was delicious. Loved it. I booked myself for all the tours from here and I loved how they were delivered. How I wish the place was kept clean, hygienic and had atleast the basics available in bathroom. Though they had dispensers for hand wash, conditioner, shampoo etc but they all were empty. Get yourself an Uber from the airport. Their charges for the pickup and drop are expensive. It can be really noisy at night if you look to sleep before midnight.

What a warm welcome, what a unique accommodation and what a great offer of personal, individual tours. We were able to book a tour to the inner city and one to Soweto very short term! Couldn't be better! We really enjoyed it!!!

I’m visiting from Canada. I’m 29 years old and backpacking. I’ve visited 17 different countries and have done countless walking tours. This was by far THE BEST. I got to see a side of joburg I was craving on this trip. The guides (Eko and Tyrone) were knowledgeable, fun and easy. I learned about so much but really felt immersed in the pulses of this colourful city. There wasn’t a question that eko couldn’t answer - from politics to architecture to legend. My favourite was was the vibe of the tour guides, playground market and the hallmark house. The price was 650 and I almost didn’t do the tour - I am so happy I did! Best money I spent in jozi so far. Thank you!!
