You won't be able to see any neighbors, so it is very secluded and nestled among pine trees. Don’t forget ingredients to make s’mores as you can find marshmallow roasting sticks in the kitchen.There is a gas grill and outdoor table that seats six surrounded by string lights that set the mood and turn the deck and outdoor seating area into a cozy entertaining space.-Kitchen and Dining Room-The kitchen comes fully equipped with all standard appliances, a Keurig with a coffee pot, electric kettle, French press, a CrockPot, air fryer, and more. The dining room table seats six, in addition to the kitchen island that seats three.-Living Room-The living room has plenty of comfortable seating and is accented with a record player, records, and an electric fireplace for added warmth during cold nights. The living room has a 55” Smart Roku TV that allows for unlimited streaming capability. You have the ability to log into your streaming services in "guest mode" that will automatically log you out on the date of your departure. There is no cable TV.Cell phone service can be spotty in the area, but the house is equipped with high speed 300mbps WiFi.There are decks of cards, board games, books, and two yoga mats for your enjoyment. We ask that you leave them at the property when you check-out for the next guests.-Bedroom 1-One queen bed with a memory foam mattress, a full-length wall mounted mirror, luggage rack, nightstand lights, a ceiling fan/light, and a portable electric heater.-Bedroom 2-One queen bed with a memory foam mattress, a private closet with one full-length wall mounted mirror, luggage rack, nightstand lights, a ceiling fan/light, and a portable electric heater.-Bedroom 3-One queen bed with a memory foam mattress, a free-standing closet, nightstand lights, a ceiling fan/light, and a portable electric heater.-Full Bathroom-A hairdryer, plenty of hooks, storage, and shelf space throughout, in addition to a full shower/tub with high-pressure handheld shower head and wall mounted shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We also provide round cotton pads, Q-tips, and body lotion.-Half Bathroom-Well lit, modern bathroom with one pedal stool sink and large mirror.We have a Pack 'n Play and a high chair at the property for use if traveling with young kids.Guests have full access to the house except one locked closet in the first bedroom and an unfinished basement only accessible via the outside.Please note that from November to Memorial Day, many of the restaurants and shops are closed for the season. There are a few that remain open year round, but the closest town that remains fully open is Ellsworth (about a 45 minute drive off island). There are two video and audio recording cameras on the outside of the property; a motion activated Ring floodlight that overlooks the driveway and front door and one video recording Ring camera that overlooks the back deck entrance.We require the guest who books the house to provide us with a photocopy of their driver’s license.The house is heated and cooled via a heat pump/mini split located in the Living Room. Paul's Cottage is the year-round home where my father-in-law spent his retirement years. Built to resemble a New England barn, the spacious pine-paneled living room features a cathedral ceiling and a granite fireplace that is likely the largest you have ever seen!There is a bedroom with queen size bed and newly renovated full bath on the first floor. Over the kitchen and bedroom is a loft area with a tiled shower and bedroom with a queen size bed and adjoining sitting room with a small twin bed, large closet and skylight. You will absolutely love the new dormer in the upstairs bedroom especially when you are able to look out on to Blue Hill Bay and enjoy the stars and the moon traveling across the clear dark sky. (Due to the relatively small size of the loft bedrooms we limit the total number of guests to five, including infants, no exceptions, please.)Our kitchen is well equipped for cooking and serving, with amenities including gas cook top & oven, microwave, coffeemaker, dishwasher and breakfast table.Mealtime is always more enjoyable with a view of the water. You can sit in front of the window in the dining area or simply go outside to use the picnic table on the deck. In the corner of the living room next to a window with a waterfront view, the landlady insisted on having a game table because she loves to play scrabble, bridge or canasta. Yes, it is a great place to use your computer and we do offer wireless internet connection for those who insist on making contact with the outside world. However, we suggest that you just sit and relax in the large wicker chairs in the living room to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Perhaps the best thing to do after all is just step through the large sliding glass doors onto a 400 square foot deck and enjoy the panoramic view of Blue Hill Bay.We are located between Mitchell and Duck Cove on the western side of Mount Desert Island in the coastal village of West Tremont, so you will find that the spectacular sunsets probably will take your breath away.As one of my tenants said the minute he got out of the car, 'I think that you have a little bit of heaven here'. I do believe that he is correct. I have to say I do leave a little bit of my heart behind every time I leave Mount Desert Island. Please come and experience the peace and quiet of your home away from home and leave your cares behind.GENERAL INFORMATION:l) We normally rent our cottage by the week, Saturday to Saturday during the high season. It will be available for a five day rental in the off=season. 2) We enjoy pets enormously, but have found that pets are frequently unhappy in unfamiliar surroundings. We do have tenants who have allergies too. We regrettably have concluded that we can not accommodate any pets.3) Our housekeeping cottage is now smoke-free. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath home sits on a tidal inlet just 3 miles to Southwest Harbor center and 5 miles from Seawall entrance to Acadia National Park. A private Master suite with king bed and bath is upstairs with a balcony landing outside the bedroom door where you can see across the cathedral ceilings through the glass to the ocean beyond. When it’s cloudy, the coastal fog rolls in over the backyard and shrouds the deck in misty air. The A-Frame boasts a well-equipped and stocked kitchen for your cooking inspirations, including a variety of oils, spices, vinegars and baking supplies that save you unnecessary trips to the grocer. If you’re looking for a work-away destination, we’ve got you covered with reliable high-speed internet and a WiFi router that covers every inch of the home. Please inquire if you have specific requests.The property was originally professionally landscaped but has not been maintained over the years and is new to us. We are working on creating a balanced environment that offers some manicured areas while allowing others to grow freely and support the many creatures of the local ecosystem. There are a variety of beautiful flowers, shrubs, and trees to enjoy as you stroll the yard, and many bird species make their homes throughout. If you are quiet, you might spot one of our many white-tailed deer passing through. There is a duck pond on the lower lawn of the property. Please be aware if you have young children.Access: Guests are allowed in the main house (except the attic), the breezeway between the house and garage, and the yard. Guests may not access the garage or space above the garage (it’s a separate apartment). We do not typically greet guests but are available during the summer and fall should you like to meet us or if you need assistance. During the winter we have a property manager available to assist you and we are reachable by phone or Vrbo messages. There are two tenants in the garage apartment May to November. The apt is separate from the main house except tenants have access to the breezeway (space between house and garage). We occasionally stay at the apartment.Neighborhood: Bernard is a small fishing village with a quiet, local feel situated opposite from Bass Harbor. It’s part of the town of Tremont and is a short drive to Bass Harbor Light, Seawall, or the town of Southwest Harbor. There are several restaurants, two grocers, two convenience stores/gas stations, a hardware store, two marine stores, banking services, and postal services within a 15-minute drive or less. 25 minutes to Bar Harbor.On the island, travel by personal vehicle is recommended. There is also a seasonal island-wide bus service (The Island Explorer). Drop Anchor is a 2 bedroom spacious residential home on the “Quietside” of Mount Desert island. You will be 5 minutes from Acadia National park. Bass Harbor headlight, Ship Harbor, Wonderland, and Seawall picnic area. Bar harbor is a 20 minute drive. Nearby is Archies lobster pound, Hansen’s seaside takeout (both walkable) and by car Thurstons lobster pound. And Seafood ketch. There are many other options in the neighboring town of Southwest Harbor.The two story house is private with a backyard fire pit. While the home is exclusively yours, the property itself also has another studio rental and owners living quarters across the driveway. We promise to be respectful neighbors;) please note this is a pet friendly property! We do have dogs that we keep with us at all times, but you might see on the property. The kitchen has recently been updated with all new appliances and paint. The bedrooms have new mattresses, and fresh coats of paint throughout. The two bedrooms are located in the second floor along with two of the three bathrooms. The master bedroom king sized bed is a high off the ground four poster bed.
