This renovated and adorable "Gingerbread House" is a studio cottage nestled amongst beautiful trees and tropical flowers and an organic farm growing Turmeric, Ginger, Papaya, Tangerines, Avocado, Oranges, Lemons, Grapefruit, Macadamia Nuts, Lychee, coffee and tropical flowers. The cottage is a "tiny home" (220 sq ft) but has high ceilings with a huge window looking out onto the majestic trees. Fully equipped kitchenette, beautifully tiled bathroom, and cedar lined walls. There is internet inside the cottage as well as 3 other systems accessible ON the property both indoors and out that is available to you. We are located in a gulch/valley so cell service is better in some spots on the property than others. We use our cell phones almost exclusively without issue.The kitchenette is has a coffee maker, microwave, burners, toaster oven and full sized fridge. The bathroom is beautifully tiled and the entire cottage is lined with cedar. There is a seasonal stream flowing just 50 feet from the cottage with a great spot to sit and sip on coffee or well as an outside table and lanai with a chiminea (outdoor fire chimney). The Cottage has a queen sized bed.On the adjacent property is The Sacred Garden (free and open to the public) that is a beautiful sanctuary and nursery with two labyrinths, meditation gardens, picnic accessible to our guests. Jimi Hendrix stayed her in 1970 when he was on Maui filming "Rainbow Bridge". The previous owner was a big wave surfer that Jimi was partying with while on Maui....We also have a 5 bedroom genuine log house on the property that is also a vacation rental if you have a larger group and want to stay on the property. This property will feel like you are "away from it all" when you are actually only minutes from shops and restaurants. Makawao Town is just 2 miles away, Haiku Town 3 miles, Paia town about 6 miles and the airport (and Costco) is just 15-20 minutes. There is a beautiful beach about 12 minutes drive away, great hiking 10 minutes away and Haleakala National Park is just 50 minutes from here. We are located at about 1100 feet in elevation so it is 10 degrees cooler than sea level which makes it perfect weather nearly all year round. (60's at night, 60-80's in the day). We are on the boarder of the "wet side" which makes for lots of be rainy at certain cozy, green, lush and you can almost always drive to where it is not raining. The best of both worlds.We are happy to assist you with planning or booking other activities/massages. We are affiliated with personal and spiritual growth practitioners, life coaches and relationship educators if you would like more of a retreat experience. The Sacred Garden also offers meditations on Sunday morning and full moon labyrinth walks monthly.The Gingerbread House is located on a gated property of 8.5 acres of lush. We are a working farm, and there is a main house on the we are right next door if you need anything. We respect the balance between privacy and availability in the case of need. This is a beautiful jewel of a house. It's all one level and close to shopping, activities such as hiking, biking, zip lines, farm tours, horseback riding, art school, dining and Haleakala National Park. Just an eight to ten minute drive to white sand beaches.This 20-acre shade-grown coffee plantation borders a forest preserve and is completely private. A stream runs through the property year-round attracting a variety of wildlife. There are amazing panoramic ocean, jungle and mountain views and a seasonal waterfall view. Guests have the option of booking a personal tour of the farm and grounds which includes a short hike to see the ancient Hawaiian pictographs, an artesian spring and gives an overview where all the private trails, natural pools and picnic areas are. Reservations include full access to all the grounds and amenities on the farm. The cottage is located over a half mile from the main farmhouse and is completely private. It includes:30 Mbps Wi-Fi, W/D and Detergent, Barbecue with Charcoal and Kiawe Wood provided, Refrigerator, Dishwasher, Range, Microwave, Juicer, Blender, Toaster Oven and Pour-Over and French Press Coffee equipment provided. There is a spacious shower with ocean view. Hair Dryer, Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash Provided. Fully furnished with King-sized bed with Queen Sofa Bed. All one level for those with some mobility issues. Not wheelchair accessible though!Guests have access to miles of private trails on the grounds of Maliko Estate Coffee where the cottage is located. Swimming in the year-round stream is a highlight. Great bird watching too!Guests are greeted upon arrival, offered a jungle tour and are bid farewell on departure day too. Owners are nearby if they're needed and have advice and recommendations for Maui activities.The historic paniolo town of Makawao is only 2 miles away. The paniolo are the Hawaiian cowboys and they still can be seen riding their horses or stopping by the local cantinas for a beer after riding the upcountry ranches. Great shopping and dining is found in Makawao, Haiku and nearby Paia. Makawao is considered one of the best art scenes in the nation.You will definitely need a car. You won't need a four-wheel drive though. The roads are fine. There is bus transportation but not near the farm which is too rural and uncrowded for a bus stop.The cabin comes equipped with a koi pond and two resident koi named Lilo and Stitch. Guests are asked to feed them. They'll remind you themselves if you forget! Owner Sydney Smith is a designer by trade and also a farmer.
