Volcano National Park is 41 miles away. Plan to spend a day exploring. Travel into Hilo for Waterfalls such as Rainbow, Akaka and Peepee. Visit the Pacific Tsunami Museum, the Lyman Mission House, the Imiloa Astronomy Center. See what is showing at the Palace Theater. Pick up fresh produce, crafts and souvenirs at Hilo Farmers Market. There is also a golf course in Hilo and several swimming beaches. Visit Richardson Beach, Coconut Island, and beautiful Queen Liliuokalani Gardens.Travel up the Hamakua Coast to the Waipio Valley Lookout and be sure to stop in Honokaa town to pick up special Hawaii-made goods and shave ice of course!Take a day and travel to the West Side.
