Where couples & small families can get away for a cabin experience & make memories!——————————The Blue Spruce is a gorgeous 800 sq ft A-frame cabin that offers a secluded & quiet location and sleeps up to 6 guests BEDROOM 1 - on the Main Level (1 King bed, Smart TV, Full length mirror, Closet, and Luggage rack) BEDROOM 2 - on the Main Level (1 Twin bed, Smart TV, and luggage rack (no closet available))LOFT - open and semi-private loft is accessed via a spiral staircase (1 King bed, laptop friendly work space, sitting area, views of floor to ceiling windows, wireless charging capabilities, and luggage rack (no closet available))BATHROOM - on the Main Level (full bathroom, hair dryer, lighted makeup mirror, and stacked washer and dryer)KITCHEN - fully stocked kitchen on the Main Level with big picture windows that make for a great open space and sliding glass doors that open to views and deck. - Full size stainless steel appliances - Small appliances (blender, toaster, crock pot, Keurig/drip coffee maker), cooking utensils, pots and pans, cookie sheet, strainer, knives, silverware, wine/bottle opener, glasses, Brita filter, etc. Bring your own groceries and whip up a delicious meal. There is a $100 non-refundable pet fee per stay. The cabin features a smart lock via a personalized door code which will be provided 2 days prior to arrival. You will have access to the Powder Horn Mountain amenities (at no additional cost): * Clubhouse with public Wi-Fi, game room, and meeting room (accessible via key card)* Swimming Pool (open 10am-Dusk, from Memorial Day to Labor day. Fishing in the Powder Horn Mountain ponds do not require a license, however fishing outside of the community (such as Elk Creek-a state-stocked trout stream), will require a license. Please do your research before casting a rod.)* Campbell Memorial Chapel (non-denominational services held every Sunday at 11am) * Bird watching* Stargazing from anywhere in the community!Please note, to use any outdoor grill or fire ring, you must make a reservation for a specific site with the front gate staff. Additionally, anyone under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult at any of the Powder Horn Mountain amenities.Make yourself at home <3——————————-Please remember that you are staying at a house, not a hotel. Please treat the space with respect and if any problems arise, we will do our best to take care of the problem as soon as possible. However, note that there is no one living on site. In addition to the house rules (please ensure to review them), here are some additional important things to consider: * The short gravel driveway for the property is a little steep at the beginning. (We have a sedan and and haven't had any issues, but if you don't want to go up, you could park at the base of the driveway and walk up). The driveway will accommodate 2 vehicles. Overflow vehicles can also be parked near the house or clubhouse. * Having your own vehicle is a must so that you can easily access all the High Country attractions. The scenic drive is somewhat winding, but you'll be a pro in no time! The roads leading up to the property are all paved (except for a couple miles of gravel road, if coming in Northbound off of Elk Creek Road). * 4 wheel drive is not necessary to access the property, however, note that there are some narrow and windy roads on the scenic drive to the cabin. The main roads of the community are plowed if it snows, however in cases of severe weather (particularly during wintertime), you may not be able to leave the property immediately due to road conditions. If you are staying in winter, you may need a 4 wheel drive vehicle and should be prepared to encounter these conditions. * You will be provided the code for the gate to the community, however guests must register with the security staff at the main gate upon arrival. Security staff will provide a guest pass and help with directions. If arriving outside of normal business hours (Mon-Sat 7:30 am to 5:30 pm), please register with the security staff the next business day. * There are stairs up to the front door/main level of the home (the main level is raised so you get a nice vantage point)* There is a fireplace, however, please always remember to turn it off after use. * All bed linens are provided. Additionally, a Starter Kit is provided that includes some paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, and travel size shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. You may run out of these items during your stay, so you may want to bring extra.* We do not send maintenance to the property during your stay. Only after you depart. * As we are a secluded mountain retreat, the closest gas station is 12 miles (approximately 22 minutes), closest grocery store (Food Lion) is 11 miles (approximately 20 minutes) and closest restaurant is 6 miles (15 minutes) away. We recommend stopping for gas and groceries on the way in to stock up for your stay and to plan accordingly. * Cell service in the mountains may be spotty. Note that in the mountains, internet service can go out at times. We do recommend you connecting your phone for Wi-Fi calling. We do have Smart TVs (Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime/Disney +), so just bring your own passwords, however, we recommend downloading your favorite tv shows and movies prior to your stay to avoid any "mountain internet" issues that may arise. DVD player and a selection of movies are available for guests.* The cabin is located in a wooded area, so you may see and hear bugs, furry critters of all sizes (including but not limited to deer, squirrels, and rodents), and reptiles. Our property has regularly scheduled pest control, however, we cannot guarantee that any such critters will not be visible in and around the property. Please try to keep the doors closed, do not leave food outside to prevent entry of unwanted critters. Also do not feed any wildlife as they are wild animals. No refunds will be provided if a local critter visits the property. * Children are welcome at the cabin, however, the cabin may not be suitable for young children because of the indoor fireplace, spiral staircase, and high outdoor deck. Parents should use their own discretion when booking.* Since the main level and deck is high off of the ground, do not sit on any of the railings. This newly renovated cabin is 10 miles (25 minutes) from downtown Boone and 8 miles (20 minutes) from the Blue Ridge Parkway! Come relax at this peaceful mountain cabin in the gated Powder Horn Mountain community. Cozy up by the fire listening to classic vinyls, play foosball in the game room, or kick your feet up and enjoy the lake view with your favorite drink on the wrap around porch. Powder Horn has hiking trails, paddle boats, kayaks, a community gym and pool for our guests to enjoy!The spaceThis 2,300 sqft A-frame cabin sits on the tip of Trout Lake atop Powder Horn Mountain. Guests can enjoy this 3 bedroom 3 bath cabin which includes two king and two queen beds. Upstairs features a loft with an en-suite bathroom, a king bed and a reading nook. The main floor includes two queen bedrooms with a shared full bath. The basement includes an additional living space with a fold out futon for a ninth guest if need be, a foosball, table, a king bed, a full bath, washer and dryer.The cabin includes a fully equipped kitchen with a double oven range, microwave, a combination toaster oven and air fryer, kurig K-cup machine, dishwasher and basic cooking essentials such as EVOO, salt and pepper.Guest accessGuests have access to the entire cabin, as well as the community center gym, recreation room, and pool in the summer time.The house has keyless Wi-Fi locks that will be programmed specifically for you. In the event Wi-Fi is out, we have a fail safe option for entry.Other things to noteIn the winter months December thru March we recommend 4 wheel drive or snow tires. We are located on a mountain and the roads are winding and at some locations steep. Once inside Powder Horn, all roads are scraped and maintained, but outside of the gates, roads are exposed to the elements. Our driveway can accommodate 3 vehicles. We are on a cul-de-sac for easy turn around.Please note cell phone service is limited to one bar at best. However, we have high speed internet and Wi-Fi calling is an option. This amenity of Blue Ridge Mountain Club is yours to enjoy. There is also a great Fitness Club. Start each day with an inspiring workout at the new Ascent Wellness and Fitness Center. Just a short walk from the cottage, this is a state of the art fitness center, located atop a mountain ridge with amazing views! There are gym classes to join for a small fee. There is a sauna in the gym, and small reading nook with keurig coffees, hot chocolate, and teas.Lookout Grill is available for dining and take-out and the food and cocktails are bound to impress. Please message host for the hours of operation, as it closes seasonally. There is also a seasonal food truck stationed at the seasonal pool or at the pavilion. The Watson Gap community pavilion is an outdoor venue, perfect for cookouts, picnics, and get-togethers. There is a covered stone area with two fireplaces, restrooms, pickleball (2 courts) and basketball area, and a fire pit! There is also fireplace available for use. This is a 1 minute walk from the house.The pool and 6 new pickleball courts are a 10 min drive from the house, they opened in July 2024. The pool is open from Memorial Day until Labor Day. New pickleball courts For your protection and peace of mind, we require all renters to purchase travel insurance. This insurance helps cover potential cancellations, travel delays, medical emergencies, and more during your stay. The roads are well-maintained within the community, but we are unable to control inclement weather and refunds or credits will not be provided. Travel insurance is available for purchase when you book and pay through VRBO. It helps safeguard your trip from delays, interruptions, and cancellations.About the house:Enter the main level through a carved wood door and just 2 steps from the path from the paved dedicated parking area. The great room has vaulted tongue & groove ceilings, with a high end kitchen on one side featuring all wooden cabinets and self-closing drawers, granite counters and GE Café Stainless appliances including a gas range and convection oven, and utility sink. The dining table has a bench on two sides and will easily accommodate everyone, and after dinner the living room with comfortable furnishings arranged around a gas log fireplace and a smart-TV make this a favorite gathering spot.The master suite has a King bed, TV, French doors to the deck, a flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom with a wood slab counter and hammered copper sinks. Another bedroom on the main level has a Queen bed with built-in book nooks with reading lights and outlets for phone chargers, and this bedroom is connected to a full bathroom with river stone vessel sink, which is also accessed from the great room.Upstairs are two more bedrooms, one on each side of the stairs and each with vaulted ceilings. To the left is a bedroom with a Queen bed and a pull-out sofa (can sleep 2), and to the right is a bedroom with a twin-over-full bunk bed set with another 55” Ultra High Def TV with a WiiU console attached and a padded window seat.Directly outside the main living area is a covered outdoor porch with stunning mountain views, gas grill, lovely outdoor gas fireplace, and hot tub (7). There are no steps between the main living area and the porch, so it is fairly accessible.For those wanting to go into town, enjoy near-by Banner Elk, Linville, Blowing Rock, and Boone. Make sure to explore Linville Falls, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Grandfather Mountain.Here are some other ideas to enjoy during your stay:- Enjoy take-out from Lookout Grill, a short walk away - Play a round of pickleball or basketball- Enjoy the BRMC pool (Memorial Day until Labor Day)- Have a cocktail outside while enjoying the mountain's natural beauty- Hike down to the Blue Hole for a quick swim- Enjoy dining in Boone and Blowing Rock (20-25 min away)- Enjoy shopping in Blowing Rock, Boone, or the Tanger Outlets- Golf at the Boone Golf Club- Enjoy a shooting or archery lesson with the Chetola Sporting Reserve.
