「Our stay was lovely. We liked the novel idea of staying in someplace that is technically a castle. The room was nice and clean and the bathroom was spacious and very clean. They didn't offer the info to us when we arrived, but we ended up walking ourselves around the hotel and found the reception desk person giving another couple a tour of the hotel and telling them the history -- I'd have been disappointed to have missed this, but I'm glad we got the info regardless that it wasn't offered to us. Had dinner and drinks in the Green Lady Lounge which was nice and had good food.」
The cottage is in a small, quiet hamlet two miles up the hill from Evanton village. It is actually part of a converted farm steading consisting of ten cottages, all made of natural stone. Ours is the only one fortunate enough to have a vaulted ceiling and Juliet balcony on the first floor, where the lounge is situated. Bespoke wooden beds and shelves for bathroom basins. Fantastic kitchen with breakfast bar and en-suites with walk-in showers, and one with a slipper bath. A cosy courtyard with heating and lighting and a covered pergola. This is a great place to stay and use as a base to explore, or stop off for a few days while driving the NC500. Whilst our cottage sleeps 4 - one king-size room and one double room - we do have a single fold-up bed (which can be put up in the living room) and a travel cot - both are available upon request when booking. https://swordalestays.comAbout pets:No pets allowed.About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.About checkIn:Check in after 4:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About events:No events allowed.
