Driving along a dirt road, then a gate opens onto a spectacular tented lodge. Not just any tent, a superior room that caters to your every need. Every small detail is attended to. Luxurious finishes and superbly comfortable. Then on to the deck to sip champagne as the winter sun is setting on the estuary to shades of pink and orange, overlooking a pristine rim pool. The peaceful surroundings embrace you and lull you to sleep in the comfortable king bed, with or without Aircon. Woke up well rested to birds and a magnificent free standing bath with a view! All this pampering and luxury in a tent? Believe me, I was not disappointed and a destination to return to time and time again

The owner was very hospitable and even let us start a few hours past check out as our flight was at 2pm. Colleen also arranged for a lovely cultural tour at our request. It’s a very nice place and the included breakfast was made to order and delicious! Not some bland breakfast bar. It was like breakfast at a cute ocean view cafe where you could order an omelette or French toast. Great stay

Vertigo Lodge is an oasis in the middle of Tofo. It is a well-curated, clean, spacious place with great attention to detail. Situated in a quiet area away from the noise of town, it is the perfect place to switch off and relax, yet close to the beach and the main attractions. The owners, Colleen and Jumbo, ensured we were well looked after, and the attentive and caring staff made our stay unforgettable. It's a special place I’m sure I’ll visit again—highly recommended!
