Needing somewhere to stay while attending a nearby equestrian event, we struck lucky with the Post House. It is a guest house in the small town of Ibstock and has about 6 rooms and private parking. The week before we had stayed in central London and paid more than twice the price for a much smaller and less comfortable room. There was great attention to detail with plentiful wardrobe space and towels for the en suite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits and even a bar of chocolate each! The choice at breakfast was superb, while our hostess made sure we were able to eat well even though we had to rush off early to the event. If we attend a competition in the area again, we know where to stay!

Susan was an incredibly kind woman and host. The prices were incredibly reasonable. And location was easy to find, we didn’t expect how beautiful and clean it was, it has won a ton of awards and the breakfast was a stunning full English. I told Susan it was my partners birthday and asked if there were any additions she could do that I could pay for, by the time we’d arrived I’d completely forgotten the request. She had upgraded us, left individual chocolates on our beds. Attached two balloons to the lights and left wine and a card. This she did at No asking or prompting, she said if she’s knows it’s a guests birthday she goes out of her way to add little touches. We were completely blown away, she told us about local restaurant recommendations, and a bit about the area. She was informative and friendly, and cooked the most delicious food you’d probably pay through the nose for at a restaurant that was included in our stay, I asked if I could pay anything more and she simply informed me and my partner to enjoy our stay, it was a complete hidden gem we would 100% stop there again, never have we had such friendly and professional service.

I currently work quite regularly in the area and it has taken me some time to find somewhere to stay that would work as my preferred choice, and I think I may have. The rates are pretty good for the standard of bed and breakfast offered. Second, the location is on a quiet street and the site has gated access, so pretty secure. These are important things. Next the breakfast. You'll see a photo of the menu options in the traveller photos, to give you an idea, but I'm not sure it will fully prepare most people from the standard and presentation of what will arrive. Way above typical B&B standards, with plenty of cereal, fruit, yoghurt and juice to accompany your choice. The breakfast room is also a very pleasant little spot. Coffee is filter variety. The only room I have stayed in so far was comfortable, clean and warm. The hospitality tray was well stocked with a range of options, the wifi worked very well and the bathroom with shower, although small, was clean. The range of toiletries was very good, the water was hot and shower pressure was great. Towels were clean thick and fluffy. The owner resides across the courtyard, so you don't need to worry about bothering any family business of your B&B host as you access and egress. Access to the rooms upstairs was via a staircase, so if that's a problem for you, this might not be for you, otherwise it is everything you could ask for, and bit more.

Fantastic!! Stayed last night and Susan was brilliant and so so helpful and kind. Amazing breakfast , great coffee in the room which is rare. Best little BnB we have been to in years, and you can really feel she cares about what she does. Thank you Susan. Russell & Karin Hallifax

Had a perfect stay at The Post House in Ibstock. Susan made us very welcome. Lovely room. Very comfortable bed. Great selection on the tea/coffee tray and toiletries in the en suite. Breakfast was fantastic. Can't wait to go back! Tom and Anne
