What a blessing it was to stay at the Golden View Hotel in Ibanda, Uganda. I was part of a team of 6 from America to lead an Anglican Cursillo for the Diocese of Northwest Ankole. We stayed at the Golden View for 11 nights and held our 3 days of meetings with 40 men & women in attendance, in conference rooms at the hotel. The friendly, courteous staff was perhaps the 1st standout that we appreciated. From arriving to some fresh juice, to the service getting our bags to our room, the welcome was sincere and, for our group of weary travelers, such a blessing. The food service staff was especially attentive, and the food was abundant, and excellent to our western palates. Requests were promptly attended to. Shout-outs to Maureen, Gracious, Tempo, Godfrey, Phil, and others among the food service staff. Our rooms were excellent for our needs. Any concerns were immediately addressed and remedied. I heard no concerns from the attendees who also stayed in the smaller rooms. Shout out to Grace and her housekeeping staff. For the 3 days of Anglican Cursillo meetings, we called on the staff several times to help in reorganizing the conference rooms for our changing needs. Their help exceeded what we asked of them. Their provisions for tea and breaks were abundant and appreciated. To Daphne, who oversaw the staff and our whole stay, well done and 5 stars all around. Going to Ibanda for business or pleasure? Absurd, Pathetic, Grossly misleading No hot water, no working internet, they say they have internet and hot water for showers but it never works. I could barely lock my room, no working tv, lights in bathroom did not work, curtains falling out of wall. Everyone of these issues was brought to management the first three days and nothing was done. I stopped complaining. Upon checking out they refused to give a receipt of my expenses just said I had to trust them and pat the bill. I expect a partial refund as I had to pay between 10- a day for internet and I expect a 15 a day for no hot water and 20 a day for all the other hassle. Food was adequate except when it wasn't( quite often cold). I also expect an itemized bill or a refund for what I paid!

Brash unfriendly service, shifting position and deceptive communication as to whether or not the steam bath and sauna were part of the room package. They only confirmed that steam bath and sauna were Not part of the package and billed us for them in the morning after havung informed us before we used them that the staem and sauna were part of the room package. WORST of all there were BEDBUGS in the room. The attitude of the manager and service staff did not indicate that they even appreciated the gravity of the bedbug infestation.
