Stayed for one night on business and ate at the pub. 1 - Quite expensive for a one night stay especially as breakfast is not included or even available. 2 - One young lady having to look after the bar all afternoon on her own, just tight from management. 3 - Chef wandered up to the dining area a couple of times, his 'whites' were absolutely filthy. 4 - Ordered a starter and main, both were bought to my table at the same time. Starter was barely warm, main cold by the time I got to it. 5 - food expensive for what it is, drinks massively over priced. £14 for a pint and a Jameson. 6 - Rooms are nice and well equipped, but ..... 7 - Fire alarm went off at 4am, nobody on ste to reset. Another guest had to call someone to come down. So the alarm has no monitoring service, dangerous. 8 - Other guests told me the same had happened the night before and they had to call the fire brigade themselves. 9 - You genuinely can't park anywhere near for more than 2 hours until 8pm. 10 - I'd like to think management would automatically issue a refund but as they don't respond to any reviews on here I suspect they don't care about their levels of service or guests. Just stay away people.

I love small and charming places like this and I prefer them to big hotel chains where everything is so uniform and boring. In that lovely b&b you have plenty of nice touches, super comfy bed and funky artwork. The staff is very nice also. I would really recommond it

I was booked in at a far more corporate looking hotel in Hove but was offered the room at The Sterling Arms at the last minute and I'm glad I switched. It just looked and felt "so much more Brighton". Not everything went flawlessly - for example, the room wasn't ready on arrival - but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a pint on the house or the charm of the super friendly staff. Room 1 had everything you could possibly need although it did come with the odd design fault. Like the wash basin which is impossible to use if you just want to splash your face with water. Or the shower taps which required some basic Tetris skills to have hot water from above. Technically, therefore a 4.5 rating but the overall experience was more 'excellent' then merely 'very good'. Recommended.

A nice basic room above a pub. The parking is a bit of a problem as there really isn’t anywhere nearby until after 8pm. But pretty good for the price. Nice staff.

Went today for Beaujolais nouveau lunch and i loved it 👏🍷🍷. Escargots in garlic and parsley butter to start then cassoulet as my main course 🍷😋 it was top notch and the Beaujolais nouveau was excellent too. Great people behind the bar thank you to Nina and Frank
