Wanneer je met de boot vanuit New Castle komt is Shaftoe’s een perfecte stop op weg naar Lake district. Lois is een echte gastvrouw die je allerlei informatie geeft over de omgeving. De kamer en het ontbijt is helemaal top. We hebben de volgende dag een prachtige wandeling gemaakt bij Hadrian’s Wall voordat we verder reden naar Windemere

Wow. Wow. Wow I will never anywhere else when I’m in this area. What you get is this: The whole B&B is IMMACULATE. The highest level of cleanliness. The friendliest of welcomes. Spacious and very comfortable rooms Modern, well kept shower rooms Big closet space Scrummy choice of breakfasts Facilities as expected like kettle, hairdryer free WiFi, tv etc In addition you get these cute extras: A fridge with cold bottled water to help yourself from A pot of tea/coffee on arrival in the snug A facecloth for each guest embroidered ‘make up removal’ (obviously all the white hand bath and face towels are also there) Usb sockets It’s just lovely. My new favourite

We spent five superb nights at this amazing B&B. Lois & David are the perfect hosts and go out of their way to make everyone’s stay perfect. Every little touch is carefully thought about, it’s spotlessly clean and breakfasts are beautifully cooked, very generous portions & extremely well presented. Thank you so much for making our stay with you so special, we loved your cosy B&B & hope to return in the future.

Lois and David are very hospitable and Lois made us feel very welcome when we arrived. There is a real cosy feel to Shaftoes. The room and common area for the guests are very clean and Lois has some great ideas for making your stay more comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, the bed was comfortable and there was a good shower. We used Shaftoes as a base to drive to Hadrians Wall and Vindolanda. We would not hesitate to stay again when in the area. Thank you!

What a gem this B&B is: Very friendly and helpful landlords, who will help you with travel plans and tips for the village. They even apologised for the bad weather! The room was very spacey and very, very clean - something that needs a special mention nowadays. And the freshly cooked English Breakfast - wow! Would and will stay again, thanks!

This place is a gem. Welcoming and helpful owners with clean and comfortable good sized rooms. Off street parking with several places for food and drink nearby. Comprehensive breakfasts complete the enjoyable stay.
