We went to stay last minute and the mattress on the bed was so uncomfortable so was the sofa bed, the make shift table with 2 cups and kettle on ,the room was more than basic The facilities one outhouse shower which was flooded and door did not lock property anyone could of walked in as it was shared, also the sink attached to the toilet I did not think was very hygienic while trying to brush your teeth and things., the room hasn’t been cleaned throughly their was marks on the windows and cobwebs above easy to rub a duster over ,The home cooked food on the evening lovely but the breakfast was not anything nice . I will say one good thing the people you meet are lovely so friendly just I do not think how much they charge a night is reasonable at all for a shared shower and one toilet between u and how ever many guests their is.

Stayed I the shepherd's hut the bed matress was so uncomfortable and the sofa bed was even worse .Very clean the staff were lovely and had a meal there which was all homecooked and very nice. Would go back but only to stay in the hotel and not a shepherd's hut .You won't get any sleep as these are the most Uncomfortable beds we have every tried to sleep on .

Thought we had beeb lucky to get a room at short notice for Goth weekend but luck ran out at our less than friendly reception. We booked what they called a chalet turns out to be a shepherd's hut and very basic 1 bed, very u comfortable marmtress and a sofa sofa-bed. A half barrel makeshift stand with a kettle and some tea and coffee. 4 huts on a small piece of land at the back of the pub/hotel, one toilet, with a sink on the back of the toilet, hard to yse as yoi have to reach over the toilet foe all huts to share with one shower in a separate outhouse. Plus side clean, more than could be said of one of the occupant that left knickers and dirty sanitary towel attacked on the floor. Respectfully not the fault of the hosts. Had a drink I the pub in the evenjng made more welcome by lady behind d the bar. We were kept up most of the night by other occupants of the hut making lots of noise. We saw pictures of the rooms in the hotel and they looked nice and think we would have been happier in one of them. Don't mind rouging ut a bit but this was too much for us. Ca t comment on the breakfast included as service did not start until 9am and we like to eat and get out early to find parking and meet friends early. Plus side not far out of Whitby town, parking very limited.. all said the hut was clean as was the bedding and without the little heater we would ha e been very cold, spare blames would be good for the time of year. Would we stay again, only if we can get a room inside the pub/hotel
