What a fantastic experience we had staying at the Hapuku. Our room was in the lodge looking over the pool and towards the spectacular mountains. The room was perfect. We'll maintained clean and functional. They have thought of small things to make the guests stay more pleasant. The mineral pool was lovely. Not hot but great especially for some laps. We enjoyed the complementary bikes and a nice walk around the property and to the beach. The food was next level. I could not fault it. I have left the best till last the staff. They were so helpful and their attention to detail was appreciated. Such a fantastic weekend. Thankyou.

What a beautiful lodge. Stunning setting surrounded by mountains, excellent food and a bonus of an outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi with views across the paddock of deer. Rooms are incredible with every mod con you could imagine, and an original Picasso in the Olive Lodge! Two nights at least is a must. There are some lovely walks in the area and the lodge is so nice you won’t want to leave.

We have travelled all over the world and stayed at many of the highest rated hotels and resorts. There is something special about Hapuku that words can’t really capture. The food is the best we have experienced anywhere in New Zealand, The service is beyond 5 stars- the attention to detail- even just the consistent kindness displayed; more like family than staff. If you are traveling around New Zealand, make a point of staying here in beautiful Kaikoura.

We stayed for two nights recently on a trip through New Zealand. It was a delightful stay. We stayed in one of the lodge suites which was spacious and comfortable with a lovely lounge area with a gas fire, a large bedroom with comfortable bed and further seating. The bathroom was large with a lovely rain shower and a separate Japanese inspired bath. Very nice toiletries in the bathroom. The views from the entire property are superb and the public areas are delightful. The international combination of chefs and kitchen staff produced some memorable food and all the staff were, without exception, helpful, friendly and efficient. With many thanks to all including Rosalie, Keilla and Benny (sorry if I’ve misspelt anyone’s names) Can wholeheartedly recommend Hapuku Lodge and would definitely stay there again if we come back to New Zealand!

We've travelled extensively and stayed in 100's of hotels .... and what makes an amazing stay is often down to location of course, but also luxury items like bedding, bathrooms and meals, Hapuku Lodges have all this covered, but the final ingredient to make a stay memorable, years after visiting, is the staff .... welcoming, attentive and genuinely passionate about offering hospitality. The staff at Hapuku are are real credit, they take an amazing hotel and add the extra experience. Every person was so kind but extra thanks to Jake for his welcome and local knowledge, and also Mike for dinner service

Simply classy and first-rate in every way! Located several miles from Kaikoura town center but DEFINITELY worth a multi-night stay for romance oriented couples. The attentive staff went out of their way to ensure that every little need or want was met above and beyond expectation - often predicting things we might enjoy (such as heating up the cedar wood dry sauna and stone-lined adjacent outdoor jacuzzi even before we indicated that we wanted to use them). Our room was gorgeous - the design was modern yet warmed with wooden cabinetry evidencing extreme attention to detail (heated bathroom floor, heated towel racks, large walk-in shower, views of adjacent pastural lands, etc.). Beautiful common room with fireplace and various lounge seating areas to enjoy a handcrafted cocktail and light conversation before dinner. And the on-site dinner? A completely 5 star dining experience clearly prepared by talented chefs and served by polite and personable staff. Well-suited for an intimate evening or special occasion. The breakfast, included as part of the stay, was equally delicious and elegant. Top marks for everyone at this wonderful establishment.
