Mr & Mrs Smith HAPUKU LODGE & TREE HOUSES

To sit in the beautiful room overlooking the mountains and the deer herd was simply magical. It was raining but we still enjoyed just watching the deer. Bed was comfy and room was quiet (we were in a room upstairs in the main lodge). We appreciated the complementary wine, snacks and drinks. But the real hero is the chef. Our dinner was OUTSTANDING - a real culinary masterpiece. And I’m not a big breakfast enthusiast but the egg/hummus/toast combo ranks as one of my fave breakfasts ever. We hope to come back!

Sehr schöne Lodge, wir hatten ein tolles und grosses Zimmer mit allen Annehmlichkeiten. Das Essen im hoteleigenen Restaurant ist sehr gut und von hoher Qualität. Hinweis: Die Lodge liegt recht nah am SH1, den man auch ein wenig hört, nachts aber keinen Verkehr hat. Wir waren 4 Wochen in Neuseeland unterwegs, es war eine der besten Unterkünfte.

What a beautiful lodge. Stunning setting surrounded by mountains, excellent food and a bonus of an outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi with views across the paddock of deer. Rooms are incredible with every mod con you could imagine, and an original Picasso in the Olive Lodge! Two nights at least is a must. There are some lovely walks in the area and the lodge is so nice you won’t want to leave.

Soooo disappointed 😞 For the first time a year ago it was very good, but this time it was so disappointment. we were expecting Michelin dishes, but the chef left and the students were cooking. the food was not tasty and the presentation was poor. Rice and vegetables overcooked Souses not tasty Duck hard to chew For that price people should have nice meal

We stayed for two nights recently on a trip through New Zealand. It was a delightful stay. We stayed in one of the lodge suites which was spacious and comfortable with a lovely lounge area with a gas fire, a large bedroom with comfortable bed and further seating. The bathroom was large with a lovely rain shower and a separate Japanese inspired bath. Very nice toiletries in the bathroom. The views from the entire property are superb and the public areas are delightful. The international combination of chefs and kitchen staff produced some memorable food and all the staff were, without exception, helpful, friendly and efficient. With many thanks to all including Rosalie, Keilla and Benny (sorry if I’ve misspelt anyone’s names) Can wholeheartedly recommend Hapuku Lodge and would definitely stay there again if we come back to New Zealand!

I did not want to do this but I made a reservation a month back and cancelled immediately (cancellable and flexible booking). My card was charged $16000 for the booking and till date there has not been a refund or any contact from the hotel or Mr and Mrs Smith!!! It was only on routine check of credit card statement that I have noticed this. Unacceptable!
