Other reviews said the ryokan was hard to find but we had no trouble finding the building, Google maps brought us directly to it. The ryokan is about a 10 minute walk from the bus station, so I’m glad we forwarded our luggage to the ryokan instead of bringing it ourselves. The woman who greeted us was very welcoming and hospitable. She gave us a tour of our Kaori room and was very patient with our questions. We used translation apps because we don’t speak Japanese but she knew a few words in English. The dinner included 3 courses which was plenty of food, and it was beautifully presented. However, the room we stayed in was very disappointing. In our opinion, the room doesn’t look like the online photos at all and feels like a motel. It does say online that the room is an “old building guest room”, and the room looks and feels old. There are spider webs and dust around the lights and the bedding had a stain on it. The outdoor bath and the roof above it are dirty and old. The photo of the onsen on the website is not what it looks like in real life, because there’s a wall that obstructs the view. The toilet is inside but the shower is outside. While I was showering after dinner, a small crab crawled into the shower and onto the soap! Overall we wish we had stayed somewhere else, and we hope they update the website with more accurate photos. We are very sorry to leave this review because the owner was so kind and provided great service, but we don’t think this room was worth the 60,000 yen we paid.
