巴尼特山飯店(Barnett Hill Hotel)

We really enjoyed our nights stay here with our dog. The staff were really lovely, the place itself and the grounds were stunning, our room was fab and our massages with Lisa were amazing! She is incredible. The only slight complaint was waiting 40 minutes for our afternoon tea, when we were the only people there, which was a bit weird, but the few staff that were there, were very apologetic and sweet about it, Especially Lisa.

Barnett Hill, designed by Arnold Mitchell in the early 1900s, is a beautiful and distinctive building. This was our third stay, and we always enjoy the fabulous detail of the panelling and plasterwork. Even the drainpipes are fetching! Sadly, we won't be going back there, though. The service had deteriorated dramatically since previous visits, and the hotel now no longer represents any kind of value for money. There were no bathrobes in our room, and there only seemed to be one in the building when we asked (straight out of the washing machine; we had to dry it on a radiator). Dinner was OK, though uninspiring, but breakfast was a full-on disaster. They have changed the usual cook-to-order breakfast model that you expect in a hotel at this price point to a buffet model—and not even a well-done buffet, at that. The selection of food was poor and the execution just dreadful: inedible scrambled eggs in a serving canister that was broken and 'mended' with clingfilm; no hot water for people to make their own tea... I could go on. Service (in so much as there was any) was weird and unpleasant as well—verging on the 'Fawlty Towers', as I noticed someone else said in a recent review. The management seem completely in denial about how bad things have got, so I can't imagine things will be getting better any time soon. Such a shame! A building as lovely as this deserves far better. Our experience was all the more surprising in that Barnett Hill is part of the Alexander House group, whose hotels I have always found highly professional—even sleek—in their offering. If they allow Barnett Hill to continue to operate in this chaotic manner, they will jeopardise the reputation of the whole group.

Do not stay here. My husband and I chose Barnett Hill for our wedding night. It was an awful experience; the room was falling apart, no air conditioning, no windows open and no water provided despite it being the hottest day of the year. We both left the hotel desperate to leave, feeling incredibly upset and disappointed after having the best day of our lives. There was no attention to detail given despite it being the day we got married which the hotel was advised about when booking the room. Again this just added to the disappointment on arrival when seeing the room we had been given. We have been in touch with the hotel since and unfortunately we have not been able to reach a satisfactory conclusion to what was a terrible night stay.

Lovely stay with my bestie. Staff are friendly and welcoming, reception manager gave us a complimentary upgrade. Room was clean and spacious. Ordered a snack and coffee to the room on arrival, arrived very quickly. Breakfast staff again were lovely, nothing was too much bother. We had a wonderful massage with Lisa, who is very knowledgeable and worked on our trouble areas with aftercare advice. Great hotel in a quiet area of Surrey, perfect for a little getaway. Would be lovely if in the future there was pool added as we feel this would be a benefit for the hotel and would have improved our stay if we had to be picky. We would stay again and recommend to friends and family!

I went to Lisa with a trapped nerve in my left leg, I was in agony. Bless her not only is she very knowledgeable but she tells you what she is "finding" and "doing" to you. I had, had difficulty walking, sleeping and generally moving, but Lisa managed to get me mobile and I am very grateful. I would highly recommend her. Thank you Lisa, you're a star!

Recently visited this beautiful hotel and had the most amazing massage by Lisa. Lisa is without a doubt the most skilled therapist I have seen and I have had many a massage in the past. Lisa really took the time to listen to how I was feeling and worked her magic to relieve me of the most horrific back tension. If you are ever in need, please book with Lisa, you will not be disappointed!!

The staff were all lovely. The massage team were excellent! The food was presented beautifully but missed the spot unfortunately. As an example the chef cooked the smoked salmon on an Eggs Royale We did tell reception who very kindly reduced our bill.

I had the best spa experience at the Barnett Hill Hotel with Lisa. She was absolutely amazing, so welcoming, professional and brilliant at what she does. She really tailored my massage to me and my body, and provided a treatment which was both relaxing and relieved months of knots and back/neck pain. I could not recommend her enough, she was wonderful :)
