I feel that you were hoping the building would blinker us to the inadequacies that we experienced.
We were allocated a different room, which was small, poorly lit, overpowering furnishings for the size, dangerous hot tap, loose toilet seat, its saving grace was an opening window.
When we mentioned our room had not been cleaned the receptionist pointed to a small card on the desk regarding same and that we were to use the trolley left on the landing each morning to collect drink and biscuit refills. No room/bathroom cleaning during our stay.
Breakfast was adequate and it was noticeable that the atmosphere was not one of calm and efficiency.
On an evening one barman and a trainee were doing their best to cope with drinks and food orders. During the afternoon went inside to get a drink and waited for service. During this time 4 members of staff spoke to him and went to look for someone to serve and nobody returned. Other guests had the same experience.
While sitting in the garden it was obvious how desperate it was for attention and the trees needed trimming/felling to provide the stunning views the house was built for.
The evening meal was an over priced disapointment to finish off our stay.
Looking back I feel its such a sad place and the current owners need to put some work into it.
