Was nerves about using trip.com but it worked out well.

Hotel staff is exceptional, breakfast choices are good. All rooms have a lovely Lake Superior view. Spacious room (2 queen) with first floor patio to enjoy the lake view. Clean rooms, nicely appointed, plenty of well-placed outlets, seating area and comfortable bed and pillows. Wished the fridge had a small freezer but minor inconvenience. Location excellent. Walking distance to many specialty shops and restaurants and the Lake!! A bit difficult to find as Google sends one to the side entrance. Just stay on 61, go beyond the stoplight (and the Marathon gas station), turn at the small eye level BW road sign. Hotel signage on front of hotel says "Superior Inn".

We have never visited the area before so we were unsure what to expect. The Superior Inn exceeded our expectations. 10 out of 10! Amazing view, clean room, comfy bed, friendly people. The Inn serves a nice breakfast but if you chose to eat elsewhere, the location makes it within walking distance of several options for both breakfast, lunch and dinner. The only issue I had and it’s a personal preference, I do not like the sliding doors on the bathroom. I like more privacy than a sliding door offers.

The Best Western Plus Superior Inn truly is "superior." You can tell the staff and owners care — doing more than they have to do. Good-sized, exceptionally clean room (we had a nice view of the lake with a balcony). Shower stall instead of the usual curtain-in-a-tub with excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water. They also take the time to make their complimentary breakfast better than you'll find at other breakfast-included hotels. Rather than serving up the usual scrambled eggs of questionable origin, they provided "cheesy scrambled eggs" which were casserole-like, browned and delicious. They offered potatoes, which is not typical for Best Westerns, and an Andouille sausage that is far superior to what you normally get at free breakfasts. The dining area/lobby has a warm lodge feel that is perfect for this area and far better than what you might expect. The hotel also offers a bar and limited hot food menu in the lobby during evening hours with offerings from a local ice creamery (very good!). Warm, welcoming team at the desk and at breakfast. Recommended highly.

Our first visit to Grand Marais as family now lives here. We are Best Western Plus customers and have been in dozens of BW locations. This BW Superior physical location is very nice, the staff and amenities are great and it is close to the shops and restaurants. They have a large whirlpool and a compact workout room. We enjoyed all these features although the weekend parking fills up fast. Be prepared to walk across a muddy parking lot. My biggest beef is with the Wifi and the owner.. Wifi should be a pleasant and seamless guest experience. On Thursday I could not maintain a connection for my Apple Mac. Kept dropping mid session. My iPhone hotspot worked fine. The desk person tried to get me to call their Tech Support? As a guest this is ridiculous. Not a seamless experience. They reset their system and it worked fine on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday it started dropping again. I called the desk and told them about the dropping and Thursday. The desk person Scott who said he is the owner told me that have known issues with Apple devices and it's an Apple issue. He wanted me to call their Tech Support. Apple devices are 15-20% of the market. I have never had Apple WifI issues with another BW. Scott kept rudely interrupting me and arguing that it was an Apple issue. Bologna. It is their system. I will not stay here again because of the WiFi drops and Scott's attitude. He ruined the BW Superior experience for us.

Treated ourselves to one of the suites and wow, what an experience! Beautiful balcony view of Lake Superior and beach area, the pillowtop mattress was so comfortable and slept so soundly! The steam shower and rainfall showerhead were outstanding and the gas fireplace was a nice touch. In floor hot water heat was also a treat on a chilly night. Walking distance to town and the many interesting shops and dining options. Would definitely return!
