We arrived at this hotel, which I had chosen based on pictures of their pool and hot tub area, after a long day of driving, ready to relax and refresh. My son needed to use the bathroom before we checked in, so we went down the hall to the restroom by the pool. We noticed the pool door was blocked with construction tape and there was a sign saying the pool area was closed.
I asked the person checking us in and she said there had been an incident a couple days prior mixing chemicals and the entire hotel had to be evacuated. The pool was still closed and we would not be able to use it during our stay.
When I informed her that the pool was a primary reason we wanted to stay, she said she could check us in and send us to another hotel with a pool. We chose this option, so hopped in my truck and back tracked up the freeway about 10 minutes to the AmericInn by Wyndham, Appleton.
The stay here was ok, but the hotel was dated and dirty. There were out of order signs on the vending machines, the hot tub, and the juice machine at breakfast. The pool was decent, but the lack of hot tub discouraging.
The breakfast “buffet” was probably the poorest I’ve seen. Not only was the juice machine out of order, but there was no milk for my son’s cereal. I asked and they said they were out. That left nothing for him to drink either, so we went back to our room with some reheated sausage patties and dry cereal, where we had some drinks we had brought. Poor properties and service.
