The ultimate two day relaxing getaway! On the banks , no right in the water, of the Mighty Murray River. Overlooking the beautiful wooden boats at Birks Harbour Marina and the wide open calmness of the river flowing by. As night falls the sound of the breakers on Goolwa Beach fills the air and sends you off to a deep sleep ready for the next day exploring the many coffee and hospitality venues around Goolwa. The mouth of the Murray offers so many features and thrills if you want or just RELAX and take advantage of the pure attention to detail by the management with the combustion heater , comfy furnishings and goodies provided. Thoroughly recommend this holiday spot to all those who want to unwind in luxury.

The Boathouse Retreat is a wonderful self contained place to stay in Goolwa. It is located right on the water. So rare. We were there 3 nights enjoying sensational views of the water, huge skies and complete privacy. As others have mentioned it is in a beautiful part of historic Goolwa, with Port Elliot and Victor Harbor close by. The very comfortable king bed and linen made us feel looked after and pampered. The huge deck is a perfect place to read, listen to birds and take in sunrise and sunset. Wendy and Philip are wonderful hosts. They have carefully considered their guests to create a wonderful relaxing home with a high level of detail to make your stay memorable. We highly recommend this home. Idyllic location set right on the jetty with stunning views. Perfectly set up for 2 people with amazing attention to detail, spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished with every comfort catered for. Large well appointed bathroom with bath and separate shower. Generous breakfast with great variety provided including homemade bread. Large private deck with sun loungers, outdoor dining, gas bbq. Wendy and Phil have thought of everything. About a 20 minute walk from Goolwa town centre. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay 3-6 April, lucky with perfect weather. Golf at nearby South Lakes. Cockle train trip between Goolwa and Victor Harbour via Middleton and Port Elliot. Great local pubs and pretty good shopping too. Highly recommend a stay at Birks Boathouse.

This is an idealistic location if you are into water, great views and boats setting the scene. It is peaceful with lots of bird life. Note that it is part of a working marina so there can be people coming and going on the front deck, but this is all part of the atmosphere of the place. You can't go wrong spending a few nights here

Very comfortable decor, furnishings and bed was wonderful! Delightful location next to quiet marina, jetty…. Large outdoor deck, great water views. Kind hospitality and generous supplies provided in the food lovers fare package and breakfast provisions. Close to Goolwa where there are some good cafes.

What a wonderful find. We spent 3 nights at this beautiful boathouse. Loved having breakfast and a glass of wine on the deck such a magic spot. Wendy and Phil are excellent friendly hosts. We look forward to coming back for 4 nights next time
