天使飯店(The Angel Hotel)

We stayed at the Angel for a long weekend, and the whole experience was excellent, from the welcome upon arrival to the warmth of the staff upon departure. Our room (19) was well appointed and very cosy. I would have preferred a nespresso machine to a cafetière, but other than that everything we needed was available. Good wifi. Breakfasts were good, service was excellent. We had one dinner at the hotel and one dinner at the Walnut tree, both excellent. We also did the wine tasting at the White Castle vineyard, all seamlessly arranged by the hotel, a fun and memorable experience. I'd especially like to mention the very professional and personable reception staff, and Patrick who served us at the bar and in the restaurant.

Called in for breakfast, which was lovely. Hubby had eggs benedictine. The eggs were perfectly cooked. I had the veggie option which was lovely. Clean cutlery, lovely staff, wonderful atmosphere beautiful log fire burning. Pot of tea made 5 cups well worth the money. Would definitely recommend and definitely go again.

An extremely lovely hotel that is well managed and brilliantly maintained. We had a lovely "mews" bedroom which was extremely comfortable, nice bathroom and loads of tea/coffee and home baked shortbread, which was replenished daily. The staff are fantastic and extremely helpful. We arranged a car space for the 3 days we were there and on arrival our name was on a large sign, which was great. Breakfast options are amazing - you must try the porridge plus Berry Smoothie and so much more. Evening meals were great too. Having been in the events/hospitality for most of my life - I really found this hotel to be welcoming and somewhere you'd like to stay. Thank you to everybody for looking after us. I'd highly recommend this hotel if you are in the area.

The Angel continues to do what it has done for many years and do it very well. Friendly and knowledgeable staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Spacious rooms with character, immensely comfortable beds - if breakfast was not so good it would be hard to leave my bed - and attention to detail like the fresh ground coffee in the room. A great location, central to the town yet even the front bedrooms are quiet - for Abergavenny itself of for exploring the surrounding area which is packed full of interest. The close link with the Walnut Tree makes the choice of where to eat really difficult.

The staff in this hotel go the extra mile to make you comfortable, nothing is too much trouble. Nice bar, good food easy going atmosphere. Stayed in the Mews extension, outstanding room, large bed, large walk in shower, looked and felt brand new. I will certainly return.

My favourite ever hotel! An excellent modernisation of a historic hotel, stylish with interesting art. Very warm welcome to our comfortable room with everything we needed, including a perfectly sized bath for soaking in after my daily walks of the Offa's Dyke Path. Dinner was excellent - including the added bonus of pre-dinner nibbles; the service friendly and attentive but not overbearing; the food delicious and seasonal. Breakfast also was delicious with a nice varied menu. Hope to come again soon!

Centrally located with its own car park. You need to book a space beforehand. The room was clean and comfortable. The food was excellent (albeit the plaice I ordered was tiny )but you must book a table for the evening. The Castle and Museum are an easy walk from the hotel. Unfortunately the Tithe Barn was closed.

Came here for a family birthday dinner, we had a mixture of prix fixe and a la carte between us. The staff were friendly and helpful but not pushy so that was great. The food was incredible. They brought out some little tasters to start which weren’t on the menu-little fish cakes, olives and cheese sticks. Delicious! I had the prix fixe and had potted rabbit with pickled carrot to start-omg so good! Then that was followed by plaice with lemon and capers-this was unbelievably tasty. Like a flavour explosion! The portions weren’t huge but you don’t expect that for prix fixe and 2 courses was plenty for me. Others had normal menu food, the asparagus soup was amazing as was the lamb and the burger. I cannot fault the food in any way. I will totally be going back there again!! Sooo good.

We dined in the Foxhunter bar at The Angel, the overall experience was very good. The service with our drinks when we first arrived was very slow, and they also took a long time to take our food order. All the food we had was of high quality, and I have coeliac disease which means I need to adhere to a strict gluten free which they were able to cater for with no issues. They brought out bread and oils out with the starters which was a nice touch (they brought me gluten free), although later we found they charged us £8 for this which is quite annoying as it was never requested. I would return as the experience was good, I just think they should ask if you would like bits which are chargeable.
