I imagine many people stop at the lodge for a lunch or dinner when they are driving Glenn Hwy. Everyone should consider staying at least a night or two, as there is a lot to do in the area. Hiking, rafting, glacier tours, flight seeing, etc. Helicopter tours launch right from the property. Other types of flight craft are available nearby. With enough elevation, you can see the Chugach, Talkeetna, Wrangell, and Alaskan Mountain Ranges, all at once. My family of six stayed in the Mountain House for three nights. It was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of hot water for showers after our excursions. We ate dinner at the lodge all three times and enjoyed every meal. We took advantage of the trails on the property and the nearby Old Nelchina Trail. All staff were welcoming and friendly.

Excellent stay at Sheep Mountain Lodge. The entire property is very well maintained, and the beds were comfortable. We stayed in the mountain house, and really enjoyed our stay. The mountain house is large enough for a family to have space, and has really amazing views out of the windows - front windows and porch have nice mountain views, other windows have nice views of flowers and nature. We liked that there was nice seating area on the front porch, and also a large common spaces with comfortable couches inside when the weather got a bit colder. Staying in the house we had the option to cook for ourselves or enjoy the property restaurant a few steps away. Restaurant food was very good, and an easy place to pick up a morning latte -- and the most amazing fresh oatmeal cookies! We also did the lodge's summer ATV and gold panning tour. The ATV tour was a lot of fun (our guide was great) and we had fun learning how gold panning works! Also, Lodge is conveniently located near the Matanuska glacier - so we were able to a tour to walk on the toe of the glacier as well. The Lodge also has helicopter tours to the glacier - looked like fun, we just ran out of time at this trip. We would definitely stay at Sheep Mountain Lodge again when in Alaska.

We stayed two nights at one of their premium cabins. The cabin was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully furnished, with warm lighting and cozy furniture that created an inviting atmosphere. We loved the peaceful setting, the comfortable beds, and the beautiful mountain views from both the windows and the front porch.
